Some minor glitches for @Ashley.S. to look at. I know he is very busy right now but just to make him aware:

First glitch is when using the insert link, the system is only allowing one link to be placed using this method and I've noticed it seems to drop it down of the line where it has been placed so it needs to be manually altered to put it in the correct place.

The second glitch is when using the hashtag system it sometimes de-formats the coding requiring a post edit to re-edit to correct it.

Third glitch is with attachment and media This is currently being investigated but if you notice a problem effecting your upload allowance , please contact us so we can look into it further.

The forum software is provided by Xenforo and we are awaiting the next major updated release by them when hopefully some of this issues will be resolved.

Hi All,

Assuming the team are aware but just incase they aren’t using the dark mode on the site the Forums4Airports logo is replaced by the text/logo FlatAwesome+ having used forum software before I’d guess that might be the name of the dark mode theme?

Just thought i’d drop a message here just incase you weren’t aware.

I'm seeing that in dark mode too.

During a software patch a few months back we lost some visual features of the forum. Dark mode and the visual aspects of the homepage were effected. Our maintenance man, @Ashley.S. advises that a major Xenforo upgrade is due towards the end of this year or the beginning of next year where we will likely require a full redesign of the layout due to certain features being withdrawn and new ones offered. For this reason it would seem pointless spending to fix what we might not be able to use later in the year.

Fair response, was just letting you know incase you weren’t aware of that glitch in particular. I’d imagine it’d just be a case of changing the file path the theme points to for its header logo to the F4A logo rather than the theme logo. Though i’d assume it’d fall quite low on the to do list if it faced any prioritisation.

I do some web dev in my spare time so I know just how many things need keeping on top of when running a website.

I don't get involved with the backroom deelings, It's a minefield. The forum Admin Panel is more than enough to deal with and that itself can be a challenge.

Hi all, thanks for the tag. Dark mode is changing from XenForo 2.3 and a thread was made about the upcoming changes here: https://forums4airports.com/threads/6641/ . Moving forward there will only be one style available with a dark toggle (or auto-set based on device settings) and this will be the newer layout of three or four columns of forums with all the latest info included, rather than the basic stacked layout with no information. XF 2.3 is still in BETA and is not yet ready for production.

The dark theme was supposed to be inheriting layouts such as the logo and information in the footer but this obviously broke and I wasn't made aware until recently. Due to the size of F4A I literally cannot have a production version of the forum to test things out so basically have to take the forum offline and make live changes to it and hope things work out.

There will be further changes later in 2024 and into 2025 when XenForo release the next major software release, which will all but take features back to the core "vanilla" offerings until addons are released to restore missing or requested features. A lot of the work I do for F4A is for free and unless it's an urgent issue, then it may not be looked into or fixed until the next update, which I hope will come in the next couple of months.

Thanks for understanding.

You do great work, Ashley, especially in your own time/for free and we all appreciate it. It's great there is this part of the forum where we can let you and Aviador know about these things on the off chance you haven't spotted them already. Critical work in maintaining this community we all enjoy :)

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
