Loganair to take on Flybe route from Isle of Man to Liverpool
Credit: PA
Loganair is set to take on the old Flybe route from the Isle of Man to Liverpool following discussions between the airline and the Manx Government.
Flights will start from Thursday 12th March and continue as an "interim solution" while further negotiations remain ongoing.
This will include the patient transfer service that operates on the Island.
The service allows all NHS patients to fly to medical facilities in Liverpool for treatment that is unavailable in the Isle of Man.
Speaking this morning in the House of Keys, the Infrastructure Minister made the announcement.
Not suprised as it was a busy route and a S340 is a lot smaller than a Dash 8. How many pax are involved in this hospital run each day? approx as I know it will vary
Surely that is a big question going forward what aircraft will be available with what carriers that are now left operating, some of these routes need a Dash 8 we will have to see if the previously mentioned elsewhere on here 18 Dash aircraft end up with someone soon, it would be another step on the way to recovering capacity. No but as things are at present it`s a million dollar question how many pax and also a matter of what aircraft are available
There is really only 2 carriers for domestic now Eastern and Loganair...unless Stobart gets in on it. Have to wait and see.Surely that is a big question going forward what aircraft will be available with what carriers that are now left operating, some of these routes need a Dash 8 we will have to see if the previously mentioned elsewhere on here 18 Dash aircraft end up with someone soon, it would be another step on the way to recovering capacity.
The time to evaluate will be a year down the line from Flybe's collapse or when the coronavirus has well and truly gone. Loganair have possibly suprised people with such a response personally I didn't think they had the aircraft to do what they have. Loganair, Eastern, Blue Islands and Aurigny have done a super job so far hopefully prices won't be too high and the services will we well used. There is really only 2 carriers for domestic now Eastern and Loganair...unless Stobart gets in on it. For me the one issue remaining that should be addressed is those airports who don't have the connections that others have some of the smaller airports need connecting not just to the rest of the UK but the main points of Europe.
