For me, Garlic is something I cannot physically tolerate, the smell is enough to cause evacuation of bodily fluids from all orifaces this creating severe dehydration. This means I avoid smelly cooking and public dining establishments and all take away outlets. I only eat something if prepared by my own hands to avoid cross contamination, Kosher style!

Fair enough. Each to their own. I'm the same with Ginger you could put the slightest bit of Ginger in the dish and I'd sniff it out.

@Kevin Farnell

It’s a BBC Good Food recipe - do a quick Google and it should appear. It’s pretty basic - just chicken and chorizo. A traditional Creole Jambalaya would have shrimps/prawn salad so you could always add those if you so wish. Looks nice.
Actually I quite enjoy a bit of Jambalaya myself. I used to make a Spanish chorizo chicken with tomato and white wine sauce which is nice. Haven't made it for a while though....? Maybe this week!

I can't eat gluten so nearly everything is homemade for us. The weekly fish and chips come from our local Murgatroyds close to LBA who cook gluten free completely separately from the rest, pure bliss.

I also make gluten free pizza by Isabel's. Mrs Aviador says it tastes just as good as a non gluten free takeaway pizza. At least now I've perfected it.

Garlic bread, if only!

If the membership and moderators permit, I would like to offer thanks to Mr. Farnell for creating this thread. It has given us a boost and a diversion during doubtful times and I went to sleep with a smile and a warm glow.

No special or specific knowledge required as we all have our favourites and foibles and indeed pet hates but it was a good day that we all needed.

Thank you sir!

Thank you Jennyjet!

Whilst it's always nice to receive thanks, I'm more than happy that members have replied to my thread. I hope the thread keeps going. I certainly have much more to contribute.
Also, I'm very happy to be called 'Kevin' or 'Kev'. Mr Farnell seems so formal.

Cheers

Full English Day and I missed it :(

I do enjoy one every so often, usually either on holiday or when we host the in-laws and I make her Dad one, no black pudding though.

Breakfast usually consists of porridge if I have it at work or toast with a clove of raw garlic (sorry Madam JJ) when at home, both with a large mug of strong tea. The one deviation is if I am out of the office on a Friday I sometimes treat myself to a bacon and egg sandwich.

Tonight Mrs F made her delicious smoked salmon & asparagus pie with carrots, leek and thinly sliced potatoes (y)

Hopefully the Jambalaya was tasty? I once roasted a chicken in Cajun spices and made a kind of Jambalaya but with pasta rather than rice. The recipe was from the guy off Sunday Brunch (can't remember his name) and I'd definitely recommend it.

As for the age old question....... if I'm at home I'll shout the kids to tell them that their dinner is ready, or ask them what they want for tea, yet if I'm at work I'll say it's time for lunch, or if I book Mrs F and I an evening table it'll be going out for dinner

Oh, that sounds so good!

Reminds me of when my Dad was alive we would go the the RAF Cosford air show. Even though it was only 12 miles from his house and he knew all the back roads, we would get there early. We would walk up to the cafe at the museum and get a big mug of coffee and a sausage sandwich.

I think the guy from Sunday Brunch is Simon Rimmer. I have one of his cook books and it has the most amazing recipe for Butter Chicken.

That's the one (y)

I've done quite a few of his recipes and they have all been great. I might have a look for that one for Butter Chicken.

We had the Jambalaya tonight and I’d definitely recommend it. The only thing that would have improved it was a nice glass of vino!
We have a kids version of Jambalaya using sausage instead of chirizo which we love just as much. More recently we've been trying sausage chirizo which works well too.

Caramelized onion sausage rolls - local farm pork butchery - with, despite the seasonal weather, a nice green salad plus beetroot, and accompanied by a nicely chilled bottle of Prosecco courtesy of Lidl.

Very nice indeed.

Ps - sorry no photos as already eaten unlike Aviador who thinks ahead of the game!!

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
