Leeds-Bradford Airport's NEW £150 million Terminal Building receives full planning approval subject to conditions.
The LBA Support Group welcomes the councils decision to approve the new replacement terminal for Leeds Bradford Airport.
The project will deliver a huge economic boost to the Leeds City Region and the whole of Yorkshire and will secure many jobs already benefiting from the airport. The new terminal will meet all the latest environmental standards required including being BREEAM excellence rated as we move towards a carbon neutral future.
Spokesperson for the LBA Support Group, Ross Bailey said:
"We hope the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government quickly approves the plans to ensure our region has a rapid economic recovery from the pandemic crisis by providing a jobs boost for the region.
Opponents of the plans say the airport shouldn't be allowed to expand or operate night flights. The airport already has a 24-hour consent and a roadmap to 7 million passengers. This increase in passenger numbers stems from the Department for Transport ‘Airport Policy Framework 2013’ document, which confirmed that LBA has a growing passenger demand and the operational capacity to accommodate up to 7m passengers.
We encourage members of the public and commerce alike to write to the Secretary of State, Robert Jenrick MP in support of the airports application to ensure the plans have no further delay to protect jobs and investment in our region".
