I believe that the CAA counts passenger figures as where they were booked to/from, so diverted passengers will still be included in the original airports numbers. It may however, affect the aircraft movements for both the originals and diversion airports statistics.
As Kevin has said, although I can not find the relevant paragraph, the CAA allocate diverted passengers to the original planned airport.
Thanks. What happens to the figures if the flight is cancelled at short notice (on the day essentially)?

Hmm, interesting point. To which I would have to answer that I don't know. Obviously, passengers wanted to fly that route, but it didn't happen. I'll have to take Scottie Dog's answer on that one.

It was supposed to be released on Thursday. Evidently it wasn't, however the CAA are publishing their annual airports roundup on 21st March (tomorrow) so I'd expect the January stats to be released then

Thanks @YorkshireLad for that bit of info. Yes I was ready for the update on 16th but, as you said, it's still due.

Just out of interest, if it's your "thing", the Start of Season" reports for S23 are due this week from ACL. I look forward to seeing what new services are still to be made public for later in the summer.

I despair at the inability of the CAA to produce information on time. If they were a commercial company, they would be out of business.

Well, as you have hopefully noticed, the CAA has now published data for January and, with a pinch of salt they are accurate.

I say this because i have just started to produce my monthly airport reports and have noticed a 'glitch' when looking at the data for Birmingham. The following is part of an email sent to the CAA, in the hope, that they can provide an answer.

"The reason I ask is that looking at movements for Birmingham you, as in the CAA, show a total of 65,644, however my records based on Table 3 for each month January - November (December has still not been populated) gives 74,108.

Obviously such a large discrepancy does give some cause for concern and I would like, before producing a report that I make for personal use, to know that I have correct information and that no other 'gremlins' have crept in."

I'll let you know if I receive a reply.

I have received a very nice reply from the CAA to my email (details in Post #52)

I write to advise that Birmingham have experienced some technical issues with their submissions, we are currently working with them and updating the information held. Also, we apologise that some Birmingham information was not available when December tables were published which resulted in missing information from table 3.

When all of the revised information is received and processed the annual tables will be republished. I cannot say when this will be currently, but hopefully within a week or so.

Whilst writing I should advise that Bristol are experiencing technical issue’s currently and we are waiting for their January 2023 data, this is not expected until the end of this week earliest.

We apologise that there have been technical issue’s experienced both at Birmingham and Bristol but we are working closely with these data suppliers and hope that all will be rectified shortly.

Now I just need to speak to try and establish contacts with BHX, BRS & MAN to get data, or query that already supplied to the CAA.

They are blaming the airports. If that is the case, why haven't they been chasing them. They will have targets to submit the figures. Are they covering up their own problems?

CAA data for February is now available and my summary sheets are detailed below.

Unfortunately I have to be out for most of today, but I will start to create the individual airport sheets as soon as possible.

You've forgotten Teesside on the CAA Freight list.
This is first time Teesside has been listed on Freight listings for a good few years.

Thanks for that @Stagman. I'm afraid that the last few days have not been my best:sick:

Hopefully you'll see that I've now made the amendment.

A quick update to advise that, as a result of ill-health, I'm having to take time-off from my statistical reviews. I will restart as soon as possible.
