Surely NOT?

Well I never thought I'd be reactivating in this thread, But could we be about to see the one and only "SpottyM" Monarch Airlines reappear. New Website holding page has appeared along with twitter account.

A family member was involved in the sale of the company but declined a job offer from the new owners. Their track record and plans were apparently not convincing.

Still early days, but here's What we do know about the new LetsMonarch.

  • Ownership changed over from Jake Johnson Charles, who was listed as the director from January 2023-July 2023. It then changed over to Daniel Ellingham, who is the Chairman of the Board.
  • Funding has been secured by a Luxembourg-based investor – Values and who the investor actually is is unknown at this time.
  • Discussions on aircraft are underway.
  • Sustainability is going to be a major focus.
  • The new company will focus on sustainable tourism as a USP”.
  • They aiming for the higher end of UK all-inclusive travel.
  • No Air Operator’s Certificate applied for currently
  • Love Holidays actually currently own the ex FlyMonarch brand.

Oh go away Monarch, as much as i loved you when you were on this earth, you departed this earth a few years ago now. There is no going back and my local airport has moved on since then.

MOVING ON

I am conceous I was supportive of the return of Flybe and I recognise they made a number of irreversible errors from the onset in their restart but I have to say, it does seems that Monarch are doing their due diligence on this venture. I don't see this as a rebirth of an airline in the way Flybe retook to the skies again and failed, but more a case of a new business capitalising on what was a superb brand.
#Monarch #LetsMonarch

My understanding and reading of all the chatter is that Monarch have emerged from legal administration and are clear to reform as it deems fit...I rather it did not. Once trust has been lost, that is it! Flybe is an example to all. Given the repatriation efforts, I seriously doubt if the UK regulatory body will grant any licences but an EU or other regulator may do so if the required guarantees are in place. Besides, Jet2 have gobbled up that space have they not?

Just a thought and probably a million miles off, Monarch looking to acquire 15 Airbus from a UK ACMI, could it be a Wizz Air UK take off, terrible brand and reputation? LTN & LGW slots, build the brand and reputation back up slowly? Like I said doubtful but could make sense.

I don't think Monarch is the only company looking to return. Didn't the Chinese purchase the rights to operating Thomas Cook in a similar venture?

If you disregard the branding for a moment and look at the current UK leasure market. Really there's only Jet2 ,TUI and easyJet with holiday offerings. That's not a competitive market and prices are being driven up.

Interesting thought! I suppose we shall see over the coming months how this all evolves. I would actually love to see the Monarch brand back in the skies and if this is a serious attempt (I am currently sceptical) then I hope it does become more than a pipe-dream

It's now looking more likely the Monarch Airlines revival is connected to "We Love Holidays" brand set up as they reregistered a few new categories of Monarch trademarks yesterday.

Up until now the online tour operator Love Holidays has taken seats on Jet2, Ryanair and easyJet. I wonder if they have now decided to go all in with an in-house airline?

The plot really thickens. Maybe any scepticism currently doing the rounds needs to abate. Starting to look more realistic as the hours tick by. Be interesting to see the LS/FR/U2/TUI impact and reaction if it does become reality

Everything is falling into place. No wonder I remember the name. A good while back on a social media page someone said they had a business proposition and doing some digging came across the connections of person with Swissair.

Interesting. Having an in-house airline would definitely help towards the No1 goal, but think J2H, TUI and EZY holidays would still have a big say in that. Perhaps there is more than coincidence in all of this

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

If you’re tired of takeoffs, you’re tired of life.
49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
