TAXIWAY ECHO CONSTRUCTION
OAN REF:- 068/2020 DATE OF ISSUE:- 10/07/20 EFFECTIVE DATE:- 15/07/20 EXPIRY DATE:- 28/08/20
PLEASE ENSURE THIS INFORMATION IS PROMULGATED TO ALL STAFF
1.0 SUMMARY
1.1 Work continues on the final phase of concrete pavement bay construction and pits and ducts installation for the new Taxiway Echo. Whilst work is in progress there will be nightly closures of a portion of Taxiways Papa and Delta.
2.0 PROGRAMME
2.1 The overall programme of work commenced on the night of Sunday 27th October 2019 at 20:00hrs local. It is scheduled to be completed by 05:00hrs local on Friday 28th August 2020.
2.2 The work is divided into two areas. The working times for each area will be:
• Area 1 – H24
• Area 2 – Sunday to Thursday, 22:00-05:00L.
3.0 LOCATION & SCOPE OF WORKS
3.1 The main area of work will be in a demarked and/or fenced compound between Taxiways Delta and Lima.
3.2 Some joint sealing may be required. This will be within the night-time closed area on Taxiway Delta.
3.3 The overall scope of works will encompass the following:
• Joint sealing,
• Landscaping,
• Setting of chamber lids,
• Works within chambers,
• Drainage work,
• Paint mark refreshing/additions and removal of redundant markings,
• Demobilisation of site,
• Fence relocation.
4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 Taxiway Closures
4.1.1 Taxiways Delta and Papa will be closed at Intermediate Holding Points (IHP) D2, D3 and P4, Sunday to Thursday nights when work is carried out in Area 2.
4.1.2 Lit mobile barriers will be placed at IHPs D2 and P4 and at the junction of Taxiways Delta, Echo and Lima. Furthermore, all taxiway centreline lighting leading to/through the work area will be extinguished.
4.1.3 Taxiway Delta will be available for use outside of the nightly working times.
4.2 Aircraft Access to Western Maintenance Area
4.2.1 Whilst night-time work is in progress in the Taxiway Delta strip, Sunday to Thursday, access to the Western Maintenance Area will be by prior arrangement through Airfield Control and will be carried out under the guidance of an Airfield Operations Follow-Me vehicle.
4.3 Stand restrictions
4.3.1 Whilst work is in progress on Taxiway Delta, night-stopping aircraft are to be parked on Stands 61 (all centre lines) and 62L.
4.3.2 Stand 61L will be available for aircraft washing booked through Airfield Control.
4.3.3 Stand 62C is available for ICAO Code E aircraft throughout the works utilising ASTL Lima.
4.3.4 Stands 61 and 62 are available for ICAO Code F aircraft outside of working hours only, due to ASTL Lima being maximum ICAO Code E and TWY Delta night closures.
4.4 Aircraft Pushbacks
4.4.1 A non-standard aircraft pushback manoeuvre will be required from Stands 21, 23 and 25 during the nighttime closures of IHP D3.
5.0 WORKS AREA DEMARCATION
5.1 All work in Area 1 will take place within a fenced compound lit with red obstacle lights and encompasses the redundant Stands 100 and 101 and the decommissioned B1d Substation.
5.2 All work in Area 2 will be delineated by red and white melba logs and stretches around the edge of the H24 area at 22m from Taxiways Delta, Lima and Papa centrelines. See attached drawing for exact locations.
6.0 FURTHER INFORMATION
6.1 A NOTAM(s) promulgating significant operational detail will be issued prior to the start of works.
