1.0 SUMMARY
A four‐night programme of landside work to replace high voltage electrical cables that are routed
between Substation R and the MASHCo fuel farm. During the overall works programme there will be 2 x
periods of circa eight hours where there will be reduced resilience in the power supply serving Terminals
1 and 3 aircraft fuel hydrant systems. Although the Terminals 1 & 3 aircraft fuel hydrant systems will
remain active, the work will be coordinated such that it is undertaken at night when there is no demand
for aircraft to be fuelled.
2.0 SCOPE & LOCATION OF WORKS
2.1 The scope of work will be the replacement of high voltage electrical cables 2262 and 2009.
2.2 All work will be located landside at Substation R and the MASHCo fuel farm substation.
3.0 PROGRAMME
3.1 The work will commence on the night of Monday 25th and be completed by the morning of Friday 29th
January 2021.
3.2 Nightly working hours will be 21.30 – 05:00L.
3.3 The nightly works activities will take place as follows:
 25th & 26th January – Installation of new cables.
 27th January – Switchover to new cable 2262. Existing Cable 2009 will be sole power supply to
the aircraft fuel hydrant system.
 28th January – Switchover to new cable 2009. New cable 2262 will be sole power supply to the
aircraft fuel hydrant system.
4.0 OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS
4.1 Aircraft Fuel Hydrant System
4.1.1 During the nightly working times on 27th and 28th January there will be no power supply to the portion
of the aircraft fuel hydrant system serving Terminal 2, however this portion of the system will remain
depressurised and unused during these works due to the ongoing consolidation of aircraft operations
into Terminal 1.
4.1.2 During the nightly working times on 27th and 28th January the portion of the aircraft fuel hydrant system
serving Terminals 1 and 3 will remain active, however there will be no backup power supply. For that
reason, the work will be scheduled to take place when there is no demand for aircraft fuel.
4.1.3 Outside of the nightly working times, the aircraft fuel hydrant system will be available for use, as normal.
5.0 LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURES (LVP)
5.1 The work will have no effect on the airport’s ability to operate during periods of low visibility.

OAN 014/2021 TEMPORARY AIRFIELD ACCESS/EGRESS CHANGE – NORTH GATE
OAN REF:- 014/2021 DATE OF ISSUE:- 11/03/2021 EFFECTIVE DATE:- 15/03/2021 EXPIRY DATE:- UFN
PLEASE ENSURE THIS INFORMATION IS PROMULGATED TO ALL STAFF
1.0 SUMMARY As we continue to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent low volumes of vehicles passing through our airfield security points, we have taken the temporary decision to close all vehicle access and egress via North Gate.
2.0 CHANGE
2.1 From 07:00 on Monday 15th March 2021, there will be no vehicle access or vehicle egress through North Gate until further notice. All vehicles accessing or egressing the airfield must do so through West Gate.
3.0 PROCESS
3.1 All vehicles access and egress will be via West Gate.
3.2 Pedestrian egress via North Gate will not be affected.
3.3 For pedestrian access everyone should continue to use our existing terminal staff entry points and service yards.
3.4 For vehicles processing through West Gate during the aerodrome closure (21.00-07.00) please book your vehicle through [email protected] to avoid any delays.
4.0 EMERGENCY ACCESS
4.1 Blue light emergency access will be prioritised through West Gate.

Sorry about the mass of OANs however the airport has just updated their website with all those updates.

That at least brings us up to date and further posts will just be when they're published. Good to see work still being done.

@Scottie Dog thanks as always for the posts.
I'm very interested in what is going on at my local airport and I'm very pleased and encouraged work around the airfield is continuing.

Is there any info on if the new dual taxiway work will continue? I remember a lot of work being done during 2019/2020 between the Thomas Cook hanger and Pier B.

If you look at the photo in post #1276 on this page - https://forums4airports.com/threads/131/page-64 - you'll see that the old "B1b" electrical substation is still on situ on the route of the new Taxiway Echo. There is reference, in OAN 010/2021, of a cabin being relocated from that area across to stand 915 - this is separate from the actual old substation structure itself.

Hopefully work will recommence at some point to allow the full opening of the Echo route.
