Leeds - Gdansk - Service suspension extended a further 2 months. Route now recommences 3rd June operating 2x weekly Monday & Fridays. It then increases from 2x to 3x weekly from August 2nd with introduction of a Wednesday flight.
Wizz Air's Winter 2024/2025 schedule is now on sale and includes 10x weekly flights on the following 4x Leeds/Bradford routes.
Gdansk - 3x weekly (Mon, Wed & Fri)
Warsaw Chopin - 2x weekly (Thu & Sun)
Bucharest - 3x weekly (Tue, Wed & Sat)
Cluj Napoca - 2x weekly (Tue & Sat)
*Please note this is all subject to change.
The arrival of Ryanair on the Bucharest route is also certain to have some impact on the frequency of the Wizz ops, particularly while the aircraft shortages continue, but they have already shown they are an airline willing to increase frequency again when there is the demand - and a full fleet to utilise will certainly help, but that's still a year away.Alterations were made to other UK ops too.
Suspended from 17th June. ThanksI am sure a Wizz OTP - GLA flew over the East coast this week.
Well it’s that time of year again, as it looks like Wizz Air are updating there website with few changes starting to appear to there winter 2024/25 schedule.
Gdańsk = Reduced from 3x to 2x weekly (Mon & Fri)
Warsaw Chopin = Increased from 2x to 3x weekly (Tue, Thu & Sat)
Bucharest = Reduced from 3x to 2x weekly (Tue & Sat)
Cluj Napoca = Remains 2x weekly (Thu & Sun)
Only one NEO per week shows this winter will probably be the time that their NEO fleet will be hardest hit by the engine issues but hopefully by Spring 2025 most will start to reappear in service. Plus they are having more delivered from Airbus.Wizz Air’s LBA Winter 2024/25 Schedule

We've been told that Jet2 won't be basing their new A321NEO aircraft at LBA, which are CFM powered, because of ' performance issues',
When jet2 say they won't be basing A321neo CFM powered aircraft at LBA due to "performance issues" the question is are we talking about the power of the engines or the range? 2 different things really. I find it very strange how a modern state of the art A321neo would struggle to use LBA, surely the big NEO engines would make using LBA easy work and thought all NEOs had great range. As of mid May, Wizz had 47 aircraft grounded due to the Pratt & Whitney engine issue. They currently have 177 more Airbus NEO aircraft on order, but have not yet placed their order for the engines . It's reported that they are, understandably, considering switching to CFM engines instead.
We've been told that Jet2 won't be basing their new A321NEO aircraft at LBA, which are CFM powered, because of ' performance issues', so if Wizz buy CFM it will be interesting to see if they eventually operate into LBA anyway or whether they only send us the P&W versions. All in the future of course. Let's hope Wizz are still here when that time comes and their frequency is restored once the grounded aircraft are sorted - which remains the best part of a year away, so it'll not be before Summer 2025.
They have of course already handed the opportunity to Ryanair to muscle in on their busiest LBA route (Bucharest), so it will be interesting to see if they fight back , or accept only a share if the spoils. The Bucharest passenger figures will be interesting to see now we have both airlines on the route.
