I asked the same question to antmc, however he seems to act like he knows more apparently.

The airline recently had a discussion into all UK routes (incl airports not served), it was a consideration the airline will take, however discussions always don’t make it out to life
I don’t know anything .Only thing I know is there operating 3x weekly flights at the moment.

Ok. We will see. But LHR does not have an evening departure to JED, so I doubt a new route like BHX will get one, unless they completely change their schedules at JED.

Personally I am happy to see different Carriers like SV committing to BHX and welcome them with open arms. If we can attract more Carriers then all the better. If an Airline has worked their figures (and they all do prior to launching any service) then they will pitch their requirements at the level they think will make money. The days of "Prestige" routes where Airlines flew somewhere because they could, are long gone (although there are still some routes which make me look and think where are they making any money on that!).

With the amount of flights being operated by the 787-10 they must be happy with what they are seeing revenue wise. As my Father once told me (several time), if it aint broke dont fix it!

I'm not convinced we'll be seeing daily flights anytime soon.

It definitely seems to have got off to a decent start and scheduling a larger aircraft is a good sign but I can see this one being a slow burner, which is fine by me. I'm hoping for 4x weekly then maybe up to 5 in a few years.

If we're wanting long haul growth then I'd be looking at Qatar upping frequencies.

Remember I predicted and said saudia will keep there 3 weekly.Yet someone accused me of knowing more about the route

It's doing very well !

Traffic varies from month to month as nwoody 2001 has alluded to. January is usually a poor month with most operators

They wouldn't be planning capacity increases if it was doing poorly as you claim ??

I'm not actively claiming anything. I'm just observing that Pax loads in Dec/Jan are a fraction of what they were during summer with LF's significantly below their competition in EK/QR/AI... That said:

a) Pax levels dont determine financial success - the belly could be full of profitable cargo as far as i know
b) Saudia may have well expected this to be the case and are happy with this as a seasonal/temp drop in pax levels
c) We know the route has benefitted from Govt support from the Saudi side, that money maybe there for that reason to help the route become established in the first few years.

I'm defo not trying to instigate any negativity here, just making observations. I look forward to seeing what the next 12 months holds for the route as it becomes more established! The use of bigger aircraft is defo a positive sign!

Interesting, anyone from a cargo perspective able to allude if the 789 vs 78X has any tangible cargo benefit?

Has anyone tried Saudia?

I know you can't have an alcoholic drink for the entirity of your journey but what is the food and entertainment system like?

Is there enough English language content to keep you occupied on a flight to Singapore for example?

Not used them myself but there is an interesting trip report linked below which may give some idea.

Skip until about 9 1/2 minutes for the actual flight, unless you want to see BHX back when we had escalators and no queues 😬

I'm not quite sure how an extra flight on 5 Saturdays during the school summer holidays is proof that the 'route continues to grow'

A permanent extra flight on a Saturday then yes.

Every little helps, they could of reduced the service by 5 Saturdays ?

according to some people, you only need 1 day in each of the Yorkshire Dales, North Wales and Lake District "to have seen it all". Which is why its minibus tour number 3 this year of the Yorkshire Dales for me on 16th October. Different routes and different things to see each tour.
Apologies for any issues today, I was planning on updating the site but sadly something went wrong so the upgrade has been postponed. Apologies again for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you for your kind donation to our running costs Jenny.
I've done 2 minibus tours with Mountain Goat this week. Monday was North York Moors with over 600 photos and today High Adventure in the Lakes with 750. photos. Slightly snap happy.
I've asked Gareth Southgate for the winning lottery numbers. He said 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
