Excellent article. A few errors with dates and historical facts but otherwise bang on. However the goings on in the USA due to the actions of an orange bloke may well reduce demand for tourism there, at least in the short term.

Welcome Cockpitking, but I cannot take the credit for sharing. That goes to ChrisBBB. Thank you for writing such a good and well informed article. It was an excellent read, and absolutely reflects the information given by LBA Airport Management over the past 12 months or so.

They were only minor errors so no worries at all. You referred to flights to existing flights to London, which we don't have currently, and PIA ceasing ops to Islamabad in 2009. It was actually much later. Around 2014 or thereabouts from memory. It was BMi that ceased ops to London Heathrow in 2009. The LBA flights to Florida were operated by Britannia on Boeing 767 aircraft.

Regarding Wardair 747 flights to Toronto, outbound flights were scheduled to operate via Birmingham as the flight was a split load, so they left LBA relatively light. Only two flights operated direct - the initial 747 on 4th November 1984, and a one off flight operated by a DC10 30 due to the 747 going tech. All inbound flights to LBA were direct from Toronto.

I think the middle east connection might be sooner than a US link, even ignoring the last weeks events in the US. I’m under no doubt, like you, that is going to seriously harm inbound tourism and business in the US.

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback and constructive feedback it does help to be pulled up on a few things! I miss the aviation days used to work at LBA before Covid! Aviation is my passion and as a result started to share it!

It’s a really good site which I only recently stumbled across (don’t ask how, probably just went down a rabbit hole somewhere).

Swefly were the first airline to operate to Pakistan with a 767-200, then was changed to a 146 which fed into the 767 in Sweden. This was around 2002-05 someone will know the dates!
It was the other way round. Flights initially were on a 146 to Stockholm and from there on the 767. After about a month or so, the demand was such that the 767 continued to LBA, but these were always via Stockholm. Cockpitking was referring to direct flights, which wasn't the case with Swefly.

Confused, did this happen tonight? Don't recall seeing that while I was in today, nor any OpNots. Or is that the plan when it does eventually happen?

The stands are not yet closed and the fence is not yet built, albeit the ground work has started in the vehicle /equipment storage area for the fence posts. There are documents for it but that depends who you work for and what you are privy to.

I will try and get a picture as and when something significant is visible.
 
A section of footpath at the front of the terminal is closed off, looks to be relating to construction of the new main entrance/exit
Where will that be? I know the location for the new CSZ will be in the central part of the terminal where the current arrivals sits. Obviously they won't want queues crossing each other for the CSZ and people wanting to use check-in or bag drop areas. Also It's still not clear how passengers will egress temporarily from the new arrivals area while the old CSZ is still operational.

The new entrance to the CSZ is further down towards Check In Hall A than the current exit from arrivals. Its roughly equidistant between Hall A and B, so no crossover required.
