That's the problem with ACE - it's so performance limited with the short(ish) runway and more importantly relatively high terrain on departure. Even if you want to take extra fuel because the weather in Leeds is marginal, you aren't able to as you wouldn't be able to depart if you did!

Sounds familiar! A bit like LBA then.

It seems that flight was never going to land at Leeds yesterday irrespective of weather if a single go around left it so short of fuel it couldn't take that chance, because as we all know, a go around can happen even in good conditions for various reasons .

I wonder how they manage when flying to Scottish airports.

Maybe a few delays getting passengers off the planes this afternoon. Mrs just back from Belfast and bus crashed smashing a side window! So no doubt that will be taken out of action
I was watching for a while and there were some short delays after landing, before moving on to stand . The remote stands that would require a bus weren't being used and aircraft were waiting 5-10 minutes for a stand in front of the terminal /extension . Nothing major though and I only saw 2 arrivals having to wait .

G-GDTF 737-300 inbound from Naples diverted to EMA last night. Appears to have made 2 attempts on 32 before diverting.
Yet at the time the weather shown on FR24 was just rain with adequate visibility and a 6 knot tailwind . Obviously it hadn't updated but suggests it may have been a rogue low cloud, as this divert was the only one.

Looking at the Metars it would appear that the cloud was almost on the deck, 600 meters visibility with fog on Runway 14.
Broken cloud at 100ft.

It then appears they switched to Runway 32 despite the wind direction and the visibility doubled to 1200 meters.

LS240 inbound from Malta diverted to MAN. Jet2 stating the issue was weather related at LBA.
It landed at LBA from MAN at 7.10pm still as LS240.
However, when it was due earlier, I was outside washing my car in bright sunshine not far from LBA and there was virtually no wind, with everything landing normally. Apart from a heavy shower at tea time which lasted 15 minutes the weather had been fine, with good visibility so a weather related divert makes no sense.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 2nd time
