Personally think they have/are run(ning) these 2 to 3 years too long. That said Jet2 will be far more aware of just how "sound" the 300s are overall
Obviously these aircraft still have many flying hours left. Some seem to be reliable, others not so. FO was troublesome as soon as it came back from it's C check. Silly me thought these checks were like a very major service so they should be better after than before. Seems not!
I guess that Jet2.may re-evaluate the future of these 300s if any one of them gets to the point where they are more trouble than their worth, as they did some years ago after G-CELI had several serious decompression issues and was unceremoniously scrapped at short notice. Problem of course is that they have planned to use them for summer 2025 and 2026 and if they find they need to replace one or more, replacements of that size to either buy or lease are few in number these days. They're likely to wring every last hour out of them unless something forces them to look for alternatives.

For for dear god tell me them Boeing 737-300’s haven’t been given another life extension?

I though the plan was 1x due to leave end of Summer 2026, 2x more go end of summer 2026 with final 4x see fleet retirement due end of summer 2027.

Saying that I’m all for keeping those who can’t be named neighbours up counting through the night for another 5 summers. Lol

The continuing unreliability of the 300s must be a concern for Jet2, both from a cost and reputational point of view. It doesn’t look good with the numerous technical problems and passengers being severely delayed as a result.

I wouldn't say they are unreliable. One problem highlighted on here doesn't mean they are an issue. Yes there is problem children within the fleet clearly but ... how many flights between it's last "pram out of the toys" moment and this one? Reliable enough.

There is probably problem children on the 737-800 fleet however they are not reported on the forums.

I would say the problem is that they find one problem, fix that, then it throws another completely unrelated problem up and again is "tech". As you also point out - there is problem children. And with a small fleet it's bound to feel like that they are repeat offenders. Similar to when the 757's where split and we had problem children - G-LSAG remember her constant landing gear issues?

Anyone want to break it to them?

Well LBA is not the only airport to suffer from strong winds so I suspect the ATRs suffer similar performance limitations at other airports in very poor weather.
I agree, but other airports dont suffer with high crosswinds as frequently as Leeds doez.

The reality is that most small regional aircraft struggle in high crosswinds, for obvious reasons, whether they are turbo prop or jet, ATR, Dash, or Embraer. The odds are any regional routes will be operated by aircraft types that don't like 40 knot crosswinds, whether at LBA, BHX or anywhere else. It's that type of aircraft or nothing so its pointless complaining about the ATR.because we are stuck with them and most alternatives are little or no better.

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.

Thanks for the support @SNOWMAN
Well over 4 million steps taken this year already. And about 12,500 photos.
The joys of travel. Train from Edinburgh to Leeds is cancelled so having another night in Edinburgh and heading back in the morning!
Tbf Edinburgh isn't a bad city to be stuck in.
A week off work done which resulted in 6 day trips , 50 miles walked and only 2500 photos, Going to work is more of a holiday as I tended to be out of my flat an hour earlies in my week off and back for after 8pm
