When I was at EMA on Sunday, I noticed Atlantic A/L ATP parked on the UPS apron whereas it has always been parked at the western end of the DHL apron.
Any known reasons?

It's reported on another forum that the AN-225 is due in tomorrow (12th) at 18:00 and due out again Friday (13th) at 10:00. It's also reported that due to the Download Festival police will not be allowing parking on the surrounding roads.

Fantastic figures for EMA :good:

East Midlands Airport soars to a new cargo record

Cargo services into and out of East Midlands Airport have beaten annual records for the second year running.

The airport handled 322,918 tonnes during 2015 – 4.5 per cent up on 2014 – making it the busiest in its 50-year history.

December, in particular, was a record month and the first in which cargo exceeded 30,000 tonnes.

The Castle Donington airport is the main UK hub for express carriers DHL, UPS and TNT with daily connections linking the UK with Europe, Asia and America.

No surprise that West Atlantic are relocating from Coventry.

Nigel Hiorns, Managing Director for West Atlantic UK Ltd, says: "We had outgrown our Coventry facility as it could no longer meet the demands and needs of our business. A new base is required due to the rapid expansion of our fleet, and our in- house maintenance capabilities especially as we prepare to launch new converted Boeing 737-800 freighters in February 2018. East Midlands Airport is the perfect solution for us as it’s a prime site for our customer network and it will offer us a convenient solution for the maintenance of our larger aircraft.”

Will East Midlands airport push for more cargo services in the future ,or will they push more for passengers. Its some impressive cargo figures over the months.

I expect that cargo will be it's main focus especially with the new rail link

Whilst East Midlands sees a great increase in Cargo I do see an apparent bias to funnelling that traffic through EMA to the detriment of Manchester.

This may keep volumes up within the Manchester Airport Group, but it does appear to be keeping the numbers down at one of their other airport. There have been a number of occasions when freight flights have been initially scheduled into Manchester airport but then reject b y the airport - and not by the handling agent. Yes, Manchester does well on the passenger front but it no longer appears to have its own Cargo Manager - all marketing being done through a gentleman based at EMA.

Please don't take this as 'sour grapes', just an observation based on fact.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
