Newcastle Airport is delighted to welcome Norwegian Airlines to the North East, which will offer flights to Copenhagen from 2 May 2025.

The airline, one of Europe's leading low-cost carriers, has confirmed today that it will operate twice-weekly flights to the Danish capital every Monday and Friday.

The new service will be the only regular direct route to Copenhagen from the North East and Yorkshire regions, providing passengers with the perfect opportunity to experience the award-winning city over a long weekend or week-long trip.

The city offers something for everyone, from exploring the colourful townhouses, bars and restaurants of Nyhavn – the 17th century waterfront, spending quality family time in the world-famous amusement park Tivoli Gardens or visiting the iconic landmarks such as the Little Mermaid statue.

The new partnership with Norwegian Airlines comes after the Airport was recognised as the Best in the World at the Routes World Conference 2024 in Bahrain.

Chris Ion, Aviation Development Manager at Newcastle Airport, said: "We’re thrilled that Norwegian Airlines has chosen to invest in Newcastle Airport.

“This new low-cost route to Copenhagen provides brilliant opportunities for leisure, business and trade between the North East of England and Denmark.

“Our customer feedback shows that Copenhagen is a popular destination for the North East travelling public and we look forward to the new route taking off next summer.”

Magnus Thome Maursund, Commercial Director at Norwegian, said “We are beyond pleased to offer this direct and unserved route between Copenhagen and Newcastle connecting the Nordic region with this exiting destination and the wonders of North East England.

“This contributes to increased connectivity and benefits business and tourism in both regions. We are confident that this route will be very well received among our customers.”

Dennis Englund, Market Director UK & US at VisitDenmark, said: “We welcome the new direct route from Newcastle to Copenhagen.

“With a record high number of visitors this year from the UK to Denmark, the interest in experiencing all the wonders of Copenhagen has never been greater.”

Flights are available to book now at www.norwegian.com or with your local travel agent.

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
