Qatar have put on sale double daily flights from 1st June. Seems the middle eastern competition is really hotting up!

Good news for the airport. It's starting to claw back some flights from London. A disappointment for BHX as you've already mentioned in the BHX forum but MAN is the obvious choice outside of London to increase capacity, primarily because of it's midpoint location within the UK.
 
Yes its brilliant news.

That means with EK going 3 daily by year end, the already confirmed double daily by Etihad, and now double daily Qatar, there are 7 flights a day to the middle east!

I put the news in the BHX thread, as this news seems to be the end of any hopes of them getting QR, as to up MAN by 100% and then add flights into BHX would be a lot of capacity to fill for what is a relativly small geographical area, and such a sharp rise too.
 
From winter 2011, Qatar airways will re-introduce the slightly larger A333 on the morning QR41/42 rotation.

The QR45/46 will continue to use the A332.

Qatar Airways have today confirmed Manchester will go back to a full double daily schedule, from 25th Feb.

The extra 4 flights wild use the QR25/26 number, and arrive later in the day (1630-1800).

The flight numbers and times also show intent t go 3 times daily eventually.
 
Qatar Airways will change the flight numbers of the QR24/25 to QR45/46 from 1st Oct.

Also, the same flight switches from an A330 to a B77W from the same date, until 24th Oct. It is also highly rumoured to be switching to a permanent B77W from 1st March, due to cargo contracts.

They may not have the highest loads from Manchester, but, Qatar are determined not to be left behind the other 2 large Middle eastern carriers.

It means they will be 3 daily on Mon/Sat. B788 used for new flights.
 
Seems Qatar were not quite content with adding 2 extra weekly flights to Manchester.

As of March 27th, all flights will use the larger A330-300 instead of A330-200, and, on the extra 2 weekly, they will also use the A330-300 instead of B787-8.

I don't have the numbers to hand, but, it all amounts to quite a hefty increase in capacity across the board. It adds more J seats, more Y seats and more cargo.

It means there are now over 78,000 seats available on Qatar Airways per month alone! Let alone Emirates, Turkish, Etihad, Cathay Pacific, Singapore, Hainan, PIA, Saudia, Air China, Shaheen, Air Blue, Thomson and Thomas Cook all heading Eastbound!

Word is, the B777-300ER may also be making more appearances too.

eff 27MAR16 All 14 weekly service operates with A330-300, replacing -200.
eff 02MAY16 Planned increases to 16 weekly remains unchanged, however new service will also be operated by A330-300, instead of 787-8

Numbers:

A333 305 seats (30 Business; 275 Economy)
B788 254 seats (22 Business; 232 Economy)
 
Qatar are to use B788 on the QR45/46 lunch time fligjts from tomorrow till the summer season. Info from MS2 mailing list thank you.
There is only A7-BCP to visit out of the older batch,then BCZ and their new deliveries in the future
 
Qatar back to using the B77W on the QR45/46 daily from April 1st. Confirmed to end of May so far, but expected to be all summer change.

Good to see Qatar also making strides at MAN. Very good airline. The equipment has always felt a bit mix and match to me, but if it becomes a consistent B77W and B788 product that would be a good step forwards.

Posted in BHX forum but hope it is just a short term thing this time. Last time this happened, we got stuck at 10 weekly for 2 years!

Suppose the main way of looking at it is we are still up 1 weekly flight compared to last year.

5 trips done and 45 miles walked,. Also the RAF has had 4 F35B Lightning follow me yesterday and today....
My plans got altered slightly as one of the minibus companies had to cancel 3 trips and refunded me but will be getting nice discount when I rebook them.
wondering why on my "holidays" I choose to get up 2 hours earlier than when going to work. 6 trips in 6 days soon coming up with 3 more days to sort out
