Isn't that the second flight to revert back to Tui?

Dalman Monday flight did switch from TUI originally but reverted to "Airline to be confirmed". (I'm still expecting Freebird) Whilst the Antalya flights switched onto Sun Express new scheduled flights

TUI SUMMER 2024 LBA PROGRAMME

The 2nd largest UK your operator Tui will still be operating 11x weekly flights during the peak summer 2024 season from Leeds Bradford. 6x flights will be using there own in-house metal TUI Airways.

Antalya = 3x weekly (Wed, Fri & Sun)
Corfu = 1x weekly (Fri)

  • Antalya has switched onto Sun Express schedule flights.
  • Dalaman service still has airline to be confirmed, I'm still not sure yet if Freebird is returning or if another Turkish Carrier will be operating these flights.
  • The additional Sunday Palma service which is new for summer 2024 season, now sees a 4-week period where it doesn't operate between June 23rd & July 21st as the aircraft is required at Belfast Int’l (For Peak School Holidays).

I guess we can expect to see some extra package holiday destinations available with TUI from LBA.

As TUi have announced today a new partnership to take seat allocations and offer packages holidays using @Ryanair flights.

So far it looks like it includes the following Ryanair routes from Leeds to Porto, Krakow, Bucharest,

I see tui have been messing with the 2025 schedule.

The is now a 5 week gap on the both the Sunday and now the Wednesday Palma services between June 4th and July 9th, meaning the frequency drops from 4x to 2x weekly.

The Dalman service has also switched days from Mondays & Thursdays back to Wednesday & Sundays

Dubrovnik = 1x weekly Thu
Corfu = 1x weekly Fri
Palma = 2x - 4x weekly Tue, Wed, Sat & Sun
Antalya = 2x weekly Wed & Sun (looks to be Sun Express)
Dalaman = 2x weekly Wed & Sun

Better offering at Bournemouth.
Pretty dire really.
They've just increased their seat offering from Bournemouth since Jet2 announced they were going in, so they're clearly rattled and not wanting to lose their customers. At LBA they've never shown the stomach to fight Jet2, whose dominance has grown to a degree that TUi seem to have given up trying.

Well between DSA and MAN they did have Yorkshire covered so really didn't need go toe to toe with the massive Jet2 operation at LBA. What's interesting with BOH is how small Jet2 are going.

Did being the operative word. Now, they aren't attempting to have Yorkshire covered. The vast majority of TUi devotees are having to travel to MAN and EMA or NCL. So they will lose even more market share.

Well if they know that their customers will travel then in their mind they might feel there's not the need to base at LBA.
And they might not be that concerned with market share. Looking at it from TUI point of view they'd surely have to base a significant amount of aircraft and use a lot resources for a proper 3-4 aircraft base at LBA to possibly make it viable and profitable for them, with the risk it may not be, and that's gotta come from somewhere and may well come at the expense of other already profitable bases. It's a potential big risk for them and they're a cautious company.

Counter argument to some of that would be why operate from LBA at all then? They clearly want to protect some sort of customer base, but equally risk falling further behind if the can't orange (deliberate typo) something better in the next couple of years

Do Tui have significant operations at any UK regional airport where they dont have based aircraft?

LBA and Aberdeen are the only two airports without a base with any recognisable frequency. Aberdeen was a base until last year although the based aircraft spent most of its time on W patterns to Glasgow, so they've moved it to become a Glasgow-based aircraft instead which now Ws to Aberdeen almost every day.

LBA has pretty much a daily TUI flight in one form or another, with Tue/Sat Palma, Thu Dubrovnik and Fri Corfu all feeding the cruise ships - so when they have a unique product to sell (like TUI cruises, which Jet2 doesn't have) then they seem quite happy at LBA. Head-to-head on hotel-based product is a different story, quite clearly.

The Aberdeen base was originally one that used Sunwing. In fact, when TUi pulled the plug on its LBA base that operated using the Sunwing aircraft, (part way through 5 year contract ), our Sunwing 737 was allocated to Aberdeen the following summer instead of LBA. Even the Sunwing fought crews were surprised as they expected another summer season in Yorkshire.

EDI was a base until 2020 (never reopened after Covid). This summer, there will be two weekly flights on TUI Airways (PMI and CFU W-patterns) as well as using other airlines such as BA.

In 2019, they had 2 s/h aircraft at GLA, 1 at EDI and 1 at ABZ. This summer, they will have 4 at GLA only (with some ‘W’s to the other two). So while much has been made of their growth at GLA (doubled from 2 last summer), there hasn’t actually been any real growth in the size of their overall Scottish offering. The benefit is that a wider variety of routes are available from one larger base, but less frequency/capacity on some core routes.

Strangely, they seem to be doing a couple of random flights between INV and PMI on the MAX later in the summer season! I know they also do the odd flight to the likes of HUY and MME. A bit scattergun compared to Jet2’s focus on more significant bases without the W-patterns. They started at ABZ using airlines like Germania before basing one of their own TUI aircraft for a year. They then switched it to Sunwing and I think we’re all aware of some of the issues that plagued those operations.

according to some people, you only need 1 day in each of the Yorkshire Dales, North Wales and Lake District "to have seen it all". Which is why its minibus tour number 3 this year of the Yorkshire Dales for me on 16th October. Different routes and different things to see each tour.
Apologies for any issues today, I was planning on updating the site but sadly something went wrong so the upgrade has been postponed. Apologies again for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you for your kind donation to our running costs Jenny.
I've done 2 minibus tours with Mountain Goat this week. Monday was North York Moors with over 600 photos and today High Adventure in the Lakes with 750. photos. Slightly snap happy.
I've asked Gareth Southgate for the winning lottery numbers. He said 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
