This post says the same thing in your'e last post. Looks like you want to put the head down for a few hours lol.
I was just commenting on it on the fact that even with the cuts the airport still achieved growth. January should be 73,108 for the month.

CAA stats for January 2019
73,100 passengers used the airport up 4% on 2018. The rolling year was 1,582,089 up 7.7% on 2018.
Atms were 958 down 11% from 2018.

Good to see Geneva increase by almost a quarter, i wonder how much more it would've increased with a few more rotations across the month? Same goes for Glasgow and Faro. When aircraft were sitting around because of reduced scheduling i wonder in hindsight whether an additional 2 flights to Faro over the month and an extra weekly Glasgow would've been a success?. Edinburgh/Dublin and Belfast are served well enough and have the daily rotations to get punters to book. Not sure how many weekly Glasgow is in winter but it is underserved at 5 weekly in high season and i imagine many still go to Bristol because they can't get that daily trip in and booking CWL-GLA-BRS is too messy if driving to the airport. In a perfect world, a GLA based Dash 8 would do a daily to compliment a CWL daily GLA.

It's a shame the airport doesn't give a press release any longer for the monthly passenger figures. It mentioned January's figures in the half term press release. When the airport was achieving significant monthly growth it was announcing the results but more recently, when the increase is particularly modest, it doesn't want to shed too much light on this. Probably because of the negative comments it will receive for only growing in single digits. It's a long time to wait for CAA to produce its stats.

Faro wouldn't have worked as there would be limited demand for it in January.
Glasgow is a funny one as they can't seem to get it sustainable at daily throughout the year, they do seem to be focusing on increasing Edinburgh instead.
I honestly think a lot of the cuts may well have been due to pilot and crew shortage combined with Cardiff generally being quiet in January.

The airport generally won't do press releases unless they can spin it as positive!

Given the volume of flights from BRS-GVA its surprising BE cant increase from CWL. GVA is unlikely to be a cheap airport to operate into though so might not be as economical as an A319/320

It is 2 weekly now compared to 1 weekly last year.

Am I right in saying that last winter GVA was a 1 x weekly E195 (118 seats) whereas this winter its 2 x weekly E175 (176 seats)? If so that's an increase of 49% more seats yet passenger numbers were up 23% meaning load factors were down. Still doesn't tell us the yield of course but GVA was a route I've been saying for many years ought to be able to sustain extra capacity in the ski season.

As Foxlimayankee says, BRS-GVA sustains a much higher ski season capacity (up to 22 easyJet rotations per week including six on some Saturdays, plus a weekly TUI B757 and a weekly TCX A321 each ski season Saturday).

I wonder if the Virgin name will attract more passengers to the likes of CWL-GVA in the future assuming the airline continues to operate that type of route. There is no doubt in my mind that a 2 x weekly easyJet service from CWL would bring in more passengers than Flybe managed, apart from the fact that the aircraft would be larger. If easyJet ever did consider such a route it would likely to be more than 2 x weekly anyway. Would they? Probably unlikely at the moment but who knows what the future might bring? I certainly don't.

Yes i believe both Geneva and Chambery were on the E195 last year. Obviously with ski routes there will be a potentially extra luggage compared to say a weekend break route which could boost yields. I do think Cardiff is limited with ski routes due to the massive capacity at BRS and generally people in the area i think prefer beach holidays but it would be nice too see Innsbruck back one day.

Average load for Geneva in January was 68, which is a 77% LF. Compared to 2018 which was 97 with a 82% LF.
For Chambery January 2019 saw 75, which is a 85% LF. Compared to 2018 which was 69 with a 58% LF.

What date do the CAA release their passenger stats for February?

I’ll stick my neck out and say 85,000 conservative estimate and base that on Qatar flying 7000 pax and the rest of the routes not gaining much at all. Maybe the odd extra rugby flight helped too. However if Flybe operated a fuller schedule in February then the stats would be towards 88,000. Like I said, sticking my neck out.

2018 was just over 78,000 for the month. With the rugby flights and depending on how Doha did and by how much other routes grew you might not be far off with 85,000. That would be around 9% growth.

What date do the CAA release their passenger stats for February?
Release dates for monthly stats is a continuing mystery. Until a couple of years ago the CAA would publish provisional airport passenger stats around the middle of the following month, ie around 15th March for February.

Following a major rehash of their website and some stats tables a couple of years ago, publication dates of monthly stats started to become 'all over the place'. For a while it would take up to three months then it began to settle down a bit with the first batch of stats being published within a month or six weeks of the end of the month in question. It's broadly like that now but with some airports it can be over two months before their stats appear. January's stats have only just been finalised for all airports.

CWL is usually amongst the first batch of airports to be listed by the CAA each month, but there are some regular stragglers of which BRS is one.

I see a poster on the Manchester thread has published stats for the month of March, we haven't had Februarys yet, lets hope they won't be long coming out, and hopefully provide some good news.
