I think the airport could get a couple of cheap wins in terms of aesthetics.
First, the main sign on the existing terminal's front elevation is poor. It looks like it was erected using scaffolding. A new sign attached to the building's facade would look miles better.
I agree with White Heather...
Unfortunately, a pier would require full planning consent. However, it is much less likely to be resisted than a new terminal.
If I were the project manager, I would first extend the pier from the current terminal extension to the proposed location for a new terminal (near stand 19, I think)...
I wonder if Golton's views on the airport have changed over the years. His face was on the front of the airport's masterplan from 2005 which, if fully developed, would have resulted in huge expansion.
I would disagree that the Council have thwarted the development of the airport. The Council approved the last proposal for a brand new terminal, the current terminal extension, and the extension before that. The actual professional planners have done their job and applied planning policy...
Applications can be extended if the Local Planning Authority and the applicant agree to extend.
It is not just the Airport that wants the correct decision; so does the Local Planning Authority. The Airport has a right to appeal and a right to claim costs if it believes that the Local Planning...
True. Planning enforcement is the Cinderella of the planning system. It is very under-resourced. Paradoxically, LCC does not have the resources to enforce even a small percentage of the planning conditions they are required to impose by policy. That shows you how broken our planning system is.
LCC is not penalised if they do not decide by the advertised date. It just goes down as a late decision on their stats. Too many late decisions and planning authorities could be put in 'special measures'. These applications will have no impact on that whatsoever. Late decisions happen all the...
Regarding the new masterplan this year, when exactly is this expected to be formally adopted and published?
From memory, didn't the current masterplan have a lengthy consultation process that lasted around 12 months? (From March 2016-April 2017, or something like that)
Could be right, but that is a massive area just for tree planting. I cannot find the site location plan for ref. 20/02559/FU (brand new terminal 2020 application), but I can find the attached red line boundary from the Design and Access Statement - which is noticeably different. Note that it...
Yep.
Hopefully, everyone can see that attachment. The red line boundary extends approximately 1.8km beyond the end of 14.
Edit: I have also taken a partial screenshot.
Has the airport's operational boundary changed? The red line boundary on LCC's planning portal extends beyond West Carlton and includes places like Calfhole Wood.
Planning application in ref. 22/9/00186/MOD.
Non-material amendment proposing alterations to the internal configuration of the building.
22/9/00186/MOD | Construction of a two/three storey extension to the main airport terminal building to provide an improved arrival hall, internal facilities...
