I live near LBA. I sometimes see the planes out of the back window. The airport was here when we moved in, and it was mentioned by our solicitors.
A lot of these people seem to be from Headingley - know for being silent after 11pm?! If anything is going to wake you up / keep you awake there...
I see the locals are being quite vocal, although their message is now just a bit confusing. There are things going around saying "100s more flights" .. 100s per what? Day? Year?. Certain people will hear between 1 and 50 extra flights at at 'night' .. that's one wide range! ... and the latest...
You think he cares one bit about Leeds or the "Northern Powerhouse" - he's got what he wants.
I am not sure where he stands on the airport generally, but he's my MP so perhaps I should contact him.
I get the impression Leeds City Council just views North Leeds as a cash cow. Allow more and...
I guess this is partly instead of the 4th rotation we had at one point? Still good to see.
Guess this one won't be a bus to the terminal in AMS.. (just a long walk instead).
If Leeds wants to get serious about being 'carbon neutral' where's the mass rapid transit system? Where are the schools you can walk to (with places.. we're having to drive 2 miles to school despite there being two less than half a mile from us). Why are there massive housing developments which...
There is probably also the argument that EXT and NQY may be prospering because PLH has closed. If PLH re-opens you dilute the passengers too much so you end up with three struggling airports instead.
I think there is (was?) a fair bit of off-shore traffic to/from NWI.
Looking at wiki, the 'low cost' operators don't really serve there, so other than Malaga or Alicante (flyBe), or Tenerrife (Thomson) if you want to go abroad from Norwich it's either a charter, or connect in AMS with KLM.
I wonder if part of the problem perception, and the general public don't like the small twin-prop aircraft? Ie. they're not seen as 'proper planes', like the 737 they jet off to the Spain in, or the Dreamliner to some long-haul destination.
Even a small regional jet is too big or expensive to...
I guess if they fly from MAN with BA instead, BA won't really care - they will still get their passenger, just on a different plane. If they fly from LBA with KLM instead, it's a passenger lost to another carrier.
