The aircraft went to the Pan (Juliet) under its own power for a compass swing. This is to calibrate the magnetic compass away from the hangers that can cause interference. Taxiway alpha is having numerous bay replacements and is subject to partial closures.

I don't know the specifics. Some warning or other prevented them being able to depart at that time. They consulted an engineer by phone first and then returned to stand. That rules out the 101 other possibilities that I didn't know whether you gathered it to be or not.
