Just Stop Oil donor Dale Vince to launch "electric" airline... using non-electric planes (as it mentions only at the very bottom of the press release): https://www.ecotricity.co.uk/our-news/2023/ecojet-dale-vince-launches-an-aviation-revolution
Just heard (and then seen) an interesting visitor, flying low after departure from LBA - bright yellow Britten-Norman BN2B-26 Islander G-HEBS of Hebridean Air Services. Currently flying over Knaresborough after doing a couple of loops over the Wetherby area.
Thought that forum members might be interested to read that the MP for Leeds North West and well-known LBA basher has been on a nice jolly all the way to Canada to talk to some British people about climate change. I wonder how he got there...?
Little bit further away from LBA, but at least one very loud aircraft has just gone over the Wetherby area - thunderous noise overhead for about a minute, can still hear it faintly now. Nothing on FR24 or ADSB Exchange. Don't suppose anyone has any idea what it might have been? Can only assume...
Any reports on what the situation was like today getting through security? Was Friday morning a bit of a one off, or can we expect queues out of the door at 5am to be a regular sight from now on?
Even just reading that is making my blood boil...! Who the hell does he think he is? Shocking that these nutters think they've got the right to go around doing that!
I saw something flying fairly low over Horsforth yesterday evening at about 18:30 and heading approximately SW. Couldn't see anything on FR24, and ADSB Exchange on mobile is virtually unusable (at least on my phone!). Couldn't see anything on the LBA arrivals/departures at that time either (I...
My interpretation of the responses here to the new terminal proposals is that people are positive and excited about the news, but are simply fearful that making it dependent on changing the definition of 'night flights' brings a risk that it may not go ahead at all. It sounds to me as though...
My other half says exactly the same! Always rammed during the rush hour, frequently delayed, often cancelled entirely. I understand there are plans to increase the amount of parking at Guiseley station, but I don't really see how that helps when there isn't enough capacity on the trains to take...
I also took particular note of the following paragraph, which I interpreted as a positive thing in the context of the new terminal development and the airport's aspirations for becoming carbon neutral in the near future:
"The Council continues to press the Airport to develop proposals for a...
Great news about the proposed new terminal building! Fingers crossed that the Council will see that the plans, once submitted, would be so much better than the terminal extension that was proposed previously.
We'd all prefer it if the railway line were to go directly to the terminal building -...
What I don't understand is why the new owners of Flybe were either unwilling or unable to chuck in the extra money that was required to pay this upcoming APD bill? I can understand that a business without big investors could end up in a situation where it can't meet its commitments, but that...
