I popped on to wish users a merry Xmas and saw this chat on the runway extension.. I’d only been thinking about this today after seeing the BBC article. Forgetting for a moment the common issue, I too thought surely they have aircraft and airlines in mind before committing to this. The XLR is...
Some interesting points and discussion. Thanks everyone.
It would be great to get an insider view of what’s happening internally within the airport on this one.
Regarding the point of too close to Heathrow, Bristol is but the wider southwest and wales isn’t.. it’s a big old catchment area so...
So, we know that the ME remains very much in the radar of Bristol. I have seen in recent days some interesting routes using the 321XLR with Ethiad, the latest to PMI albeit a summer only schedule. I guess my point is that airport expansion and a very modest runway extension might not have to be...
Re the ME3, if Bristol did secure one, surely air bridges would need to be a pre requisite? I cant think of anywhere in the UK where they don’t connect via a bridge.. I always thought Bristol had these in their plans?

I’m sure the Middle East were still on the...

Fair points made.. let’s see if they come back. I don’t want too CWL go under, it would have been great many years ago to have thought more strategically about a west of England/wales hub..
I think with Bristol’s recent expansion support (albeit capped at 12m) it will be hard fir the likes of...
We need to hear more about their LH ambitions or not given their recent win on expansion.
They have always stated it and we hear snippets from time to time. Nevertheless, TUI dropping is a blow.
I don’t understand it.. there is little confidence in CWL yet Qatar are willing to go back on what was a less than excellent performing route…
Shows the persuasive arm of politics.
Bristol are a better fit for Qatar in my opinion, that said their size and physical restrictions around cargo etc...
