    Route Development & Rumours

There could be several reasons for Ryanair holding back, tbh. I doubt they would have known about the AENA involvement and so I don't think that will have been one of them. Other issues include Boeing delivery forecasts for new aircraft and, bizarre though this may sound in the context of LBA...

    Leeds Bradford - General Thread

Unless the airport was visibly failing - and there's certainly no sign or signal of this being the case - then it's pretty unlikely that you'd buy a business and immediately throw out the CEO. If this is like most other sales of businesses, the key senior management team will have some form of...

    Route Development & Rumours

The LBA-Taba series was for a tour operator called Peltours which was one of the two specialists in the region. Taba now sits in the zone against which the UK FCO advises against all but essential travel (and on the edge of the zone to which they advise against all travel!) and so it's no...

    Route Development & Rumours

It looks entirely as though WestJet have gone to where the incentives are - Welsh Government at Cardiff and Transport Scotland route support funding at Glasgow. Given LBA (or other English regional airport) has no local government to act as a dispenser of subsidy then the technical capability...

    easyJet

As far as I know, there's no new route coming. Paris going 2 x weekly across the whole summer season (rather than taking a break in July and August) is the change. So 15 weekly rotations: 2 x Paris days 1/5 2 x Malaga days 3/7 2 x Barcelona days 3/6 4 x Palma days 1/3/5/7 5 x Belfast days...

    easyJet

I don't know of any airline that is seriously considering DSA as an option or making any decisions today about future network strategy based on the possibility that it might re-open. Whatever is going on, I'd ignore DSA being part of it - at least for now.

    Potential Routes

Next week, perhaps. They'll be beavering away ahead of the announcement.

    Potential Routes

The Flybe issue all those years ago was that a press release had been issued under embargo and the embargo was broken by a certain media outlet. I don't think that was deliberate - it can happen and did. Volotea management have a long-standing aversion to the UK market. As I understand it...

    easyJet

So the easyJet programme as it stands is now growing year over year with the extension of Barcelona into the summer. Still to be welcomed, but I am less than certain that there is anything more to come from them

    Route Development & Rumours

Sorry if I’ve misled there. Chunky refers to a sizeable expansion and not to wide body aircraft. And it’s likely Ryanair lining up for the growth.

    Route Development & Rumours

So maybe time to revise some predictions. Something blue has already landed. Something old may have gone away. Something new may yet come and in a fairly chunky form. Taken aback by the scale of what I’m being told.

When I said “bigger fish to fry” I meant it was a fish worth frying. They don’t have many of those in South Yorkshire. The fish on the Surrey/Sussex border may be more appealing even if they do leave the skin on down there.

I think Jet2 growth focus will be very firmly elsewhere for S26. Nothing wrong with LBA but their eyes are on a new prize for next year.

    Eastern Airways

I wouldn’t be too sure. There was no love lost between LBA management and Eastern. Remember that Eastern did fly NQY post-Covid before their unceremonious departure from LBA after an aircraft was impounded ! Based on the recent Blue Islands arrival, anything could happen!

Airline Analysis The demise of Eastern Airways, what went wrong?

No, Bristow kept that shareholding when they sold / gifted Eastern back to Lake.
