I'm with you on this one, the runway has been the achilles heel of the airport for years and will be for a long time in the future. Arena need to take another look at this and see if they can come up with a solution otherwise we will always be a bucket and spade airport. We have the potential...
Love it myself, no doubt expensive to install but would give the airport a more upmarket look if this was done in all the other areas where bland steelwork is currently on view.
Whilst you and I know the runway is adequate for most operations out of LBS, with the exception of windy days when we do get some diversions the general perception of the public is the length of the runway. The first things friends say to me is runway length genuinely believing it is too short...
Or Southampton flying up from the South Coast. Mind you we may get Hull City flying from the international airport DSA if they can manage to find from somewhere an airline that is willing to use the longest runway in the world and has perfect weather conditions 365 days a year.
As the cost of living and aircraft fuel shortages begin to bite if the situation doesn't improve in the Middle East then expect to see further reductions in aircraft movements and passenger numbers. Shame as we had been doing well up to this point compared to other UK airports but we have to...
Not 100% sure that the events in the Middle East would have influence our passenger numbers for January as we have no flights to the Region and Trumps madness of starting a war didn't fully kick off until February 28th with the first attacks on Iran.
And Loganair earlier this week announcing new routes to Jersey from UK airport East Midlands and Norwich. East Midlands is daily from June and Norwich weekly, I know we have Jet2 on the route in the summer months but this is not a daily service. Are the team at LBA talking with Loganair to see...
And don't forget Roe is moving at pace with Doncaster opening in 2027 and pinching our airlines back. As the RyanAir advert say about introducing first class cabins "Pigs will Fly'.
Do we know if the loadings were light on the Lanzarote flight back to MAN as our 733 was sent out on a rescue mission or were passengers left behind. For those who complain about the age of the 733 aircraft our own GDFG 28 years old was sent out to rescue a 1 year old A321neo. Brand new...
My understanding of the runway restrictions are that the 787-9 is not suitable to operate out of LBA due to to the runway length, however the 787-8 could operate but with a reduced payload. Please correct me if this is incorrect.
