I’ve been waiting a long time for the return of Canadian flights from CWL. I lived in Vancouver for almost a decade and frequently had to fly to and from LHR because the alternatives via AMS were poorly timed and extremely expensive. If I move back to Canada, I’d use a CWL service regularly - as...
I've seen a few advertisements/articles advertising the new Play route to CWL on this (North American) side of the Atlantic too so hopefully we'll see some inbound passengers to Wales.
"Wrexham and Cardiff are in the same country" - exactly!
I guess the point I was trying to make is that the Welcome to Wrexham show (as a result of celebrity investment - one investor having a significant social media presence) has put all of Wales on the map and not just Wrexham.
Americans...
I might be putting 2+2 together and getting 5 but perhaps now that Wrexham is sponsored by United, maybe they (United) have plans, or could be enticed, to start flying into Cardiff?

I think CWL's best hope is differentiating itself from BRS. BRS does a great job of serving bucket and spade holidays with LCCs but due to its short runway, it's long haul game is pretty poor (and will remain so as a result). Moreover, most of it's airlines are LCCs or charters compounding the...
I live in Vancouver and I've never found the connections via AMS to be viable - either very long layovers and/or it's very expensive compared flying BA or AC direct (or via the US). I believe Dublin only has a seasonal schedule from YVR too.
I'd love to see a flight to CWL from YVR or even YYZ...
Any ideas why CWL doesn't have a flight to LHR yet? As someone who lives in N America and visits Cardiff quite frequently, I can attest that such a connection would be a major boost for the airport.
It would be a game changer in terms of connections. Either that or we need a direct rail link to LHR. Until one or both happen tourists and businesses will continue to bypass Wales.
Interesting article, particularly when the author discusses there being a rumour about Qatar Airways wanting to develop Cardiff Airport into a US-hub. This makes complete sense due to capacity issues at Heathrow - does Qatar operate any flights to the US or might they look to one of their...
