I think CWL's best hope is differentiating itself from BRS. BRS does a great job of serving bucket and spade holidays with LCCs but due to its short runway, it's long haul game is pretty poor (and will remain so as a result). Moreover, most of it's airlines are LCCs or charters compounding the...

I think only a new base from an established airline (e.g. FR, EZ) will save the airport at this point and/or major private investment.

I live in Vancouver and I've never found the connections via AMS to be viable - either very long layovers and/or it's very expensive compared flying BA or AC direct (or via the US). I believe Dublin only has a seasonal schedule from YVR too. I'd love to see a flight to CWL from YVR or even YYZ...

Any ideas why CWL doesn't have a flight to LHR yet? As someone who lives in N America and visits Cardiff quite frequently, I can attest that such a connection would be a major boost for the airport.

Welsh independence would be a total disaster.

It would be a game changer in terms of connections. Either that or we need a direct rail link to LHR. Until one or both happen tourists and businesses will continue to bypass Wales.

What CWL really needs is a flight to LHR.
