I don’t disagree entirely however the slot alleviation is only in place until the end of October at this point. I can imagine an operator with a large number of slots being interested in securing a home now, especially if they don’t see a full recovery from COVID for maybe 18/24mths.
Unlikely to be BA remedy slots as there is a very specific timetable for any such application and this needs to take place long before the season commences. More likely that an existing LHR slot holder needs someone to babysit slots for them whilst demand from COVID recovers. I‘d suggest that...
Government reports indicate that productivity has plateaued in recent years in the UK and the economy suffers as a result. Frequency of services provides choice and helps to ensure productivity increases. I agree that you could just offer a day return option with two flights but this wouldn't...
But that would be comparing apples to pears. Domestic services require frequency to be viable for business users. I would ask if any operator from LBA to FAO is offering 4/5 return services per day, or are they simply putting more passengers on fewer flights? If the latter then the operating...
Does loyalty count though, or is it just about the commercialism of air travel? BHX don’t seem to have worried about inviting Easyjet into BHX on existing GLA and EDI routes that Flybe offer. You can’t have it both ways.
Don’t misunderstand me, I can completely understand why BHX might have...
I don't disagree that management did a deal that in retrospect looked bad, but at the time the only alternative to the E195 in size was a 318 or 736, of which neither really sold in great numbers and would have been even more expensive when new. It's not like Flybe were ordering a significant...
I think important to bear in mind that Flybe were the worldwide launch customer for the E195 some 12yrs ago and the state of the market was likely very different then. For a start you didn’t have Easyjet and Ryanair amongst others dumping huge numbers of 737s onto the market when Flybe made...
Just to clarify ownership structure, Stobart Air do not own any part of Flybe, however Stobart Group do own 30% of Connect Airways and Connect Airways in turn is made up of Flybe and Stobart Air affording Connect Airways the flexibility of having both UK and EU AOC's within the group.
Just be careful what you wish for. The IOM welcomed EZY with open arms onto the LGW route where Flybe offered a four daily business schedule. At best they have two services a day now from EZY and not necessarily at a nice consistent twice daily business schedule.
I’m not saying that it’s not...
These were never Flybe’s slots anyway. They were originally provided to Jet Airways by Delta who following Jet’s grounding needed a quick, new solution and opted for Flybe to slot sit. They have been reallocated to VS/DL growth for the coming Summer season
It’s almost certain that this is entirely why VS bought Flybe, however it should be noted that the BE slots at LHR cannot be used for long haul services, only EU. I think this was more about how VS can accelerate to critical mass in preparation for Runway 3
Shares issued are in Flybe Group Plc, the holding company that owned the airline, digital company and engineering arm of the business. There are no shares issued in the airline. The completion of the sale of the limited companies today means that the remaining Plc group no longer contains any...
