    Random Stuff!!

The second home issue is hopefully being solved and we won’t need to hear about it anymore. More interestingly, I’d like to know the plan for the economy and how the welfare state and state pensions will be funded.

    Random Stuff!!

I can understand that argument I suppose, but the point of devolution and local councils is to make those changes to prevent this happening. However, hypothetically, if it was the polish buying these second homes, would issue still be taken with them? Probably I think the first step for change...

and this is something I take issue with the Welsh Independence movement, they just think everything would be hunky dory, lots of money for everyone. It would be constant austerity and increased taxes. It took Ireland years and years to get where it is today. Poverty is a shared issue in Wales...

    Random Stuff!!

It may well be the case that happened with brexit, but why do the welsh independence movement weaponise it as xenophobic tool for their campaign? Well, just imagine if it was Polish home owners we were complaining about, it just wouldn’t happen (and rightly doesn’t). They take up housing...

So you know i’m not 100% biased towards the UK, I do think for brexit all 4 countries should have had to consent to it in the referendum.

    Random Stuff!!

I disagree. I see a lot of anti english hate around “they swung the brexit vote” or “look at all these english tourists” - don’t think that’s really in relation to Westminster or Tories. The 782,000 people who voted for Unionist manifestos in the last Assembly election and the 1.1 million...

    Random Stuff!!

Welsh independence supporters rely on a lot of fake news and anti english hatred to fuel their campaign. You only need to read a few headlines on nation cymru blog to determine that. Many people in my country are proudly Welsh and more than content with the standard living they have, as well as...

    Random Stuff!!

Support for independence dropped to just 14% when more powers for the Senedd were offered as a choice in the poll. 15% supported abolishing the Senedd entirely. 35% supported more powers for the Senedd without independence. Independence is a fringe view held mainly by the people of ceredigion...

Same arguments apply for the EU Surely France and Germany would be fine as an independent country?

    Random Stuff!!

Well i’ll agree with you on one thing, I don’t see a Wales/England union working. I would even have to ask myself if I wanted independence at that point, but I would look to see who is likely to be in power in the assembly, likely an extremely incompetent and far left labour party like there is...

    Random Stuff!!

I think I know the nation cymru article you are referring too. It was essentially a what if. Nation cymru is the welsh nationalist equivalent of the daily mail - half truths, clickbait, stirring and borderline fake news.

I also saw this, a lot of the airports social media posts these days are questionable, unless they are just trying to use language that’s a bit more casual.

    Cardiff Airport - General Thread

I have been trying to reduce my air travel to the absolute minimum considering the climate emergency we have but work require me to be in Edinburgh next week. I’ve had to book on to Easyjet from Bristol because I can fly out early in the morning and back late the next evening. For where I...

    Random Stuff!!

it just isn’t going to happen for at least 20 years at the minimum, probably more and possibly never The first stumbling block is a majority in the Welsh Assembly for it, Labour hold half the seats and with another third sitting with the tories it just isn’t going to happen. Plaid Cymru...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-58808999 One good thing to come out of this will be proper Scrutiny on Welsh Labour for the spending waste they generate. Too many failed economic projects in recent years, as well as crumbling NHS, especially in Betsi health board.

    Random Stuff!!

It is quite possible the Conservatives could be in government one day with a Partner. Possibly the Liberal Democrats. Wales is becoming more and more right wing, with more Conservatives in the Assembly than ever and more Welsh Conservatives in Westminster. Parties like Plaid have stagnated...

    Random Stuff!!

Well i’m surprised. It’s a reason Westminster Labour never went for voting reform, they were afraid it would cost them seats. Voting reform in Wales would mean more seats for the tories too and give the abolish party a chance to come back.

    Random Stuff!!

I am not sure how keen Labour would be to reform the voting system, they profit well from First Past the Post. They got 50% of the seats on 40% (constituency) and about 36% (list) of the vote. I hope they reform and modernise council tax though, it seems to be a shared priority for both.
