6 years is a long time and a lot can change. In terms of ME demand these are the 2019 vs 2024 figures Dubai 2019 - 6,231,898 // 2024 - 6,184,981 Doha 2019 - 2,451,924 // 2024 - 3,593,471 Obviously these figures aren't specific to just Emirates and Qatar Airways, but there's been a big surge...

Winter is a challenge for every airline. There's untapped markets at CWL that could fill a 1 aircraft base during winter. ALC, AGP, FAO, DUB on less than 2.5 morning flights. TFS, LPA, ACE, PFO, and maybe some city break routes, PRG, FCO, MXP

Unlikely. They have an established maintenance base but it's flown by London based crews. You'd have to set up everything fresh, so makes no difference if the Hangar is in Cardiff or Cape Town, it'll make little difference to passenger flying. BA also have zero interest in flying from the regions.

Still pinning hopes on a S26 base. With increases across the 3 main non-domestic carriers (TUI, FR, VY) recently, i imagine money is being invested, which could lead to an FR base. Summer sees 16 weekly flights. 6 of them being fairly short DUB flights, so there would need to be an increase to...

Not sure you can count Exeter and Bournemouth as serious competition from CWL. Both offer a limited route network, mostly of holiday flights or flights that are already operated from CWL on their own standing. There may be a small amount of people that use them from Wales but nothing...

Lets just be clear that Sean's announcement isn't necessarily base, but flights to a UK airport. It could simply be one route.

    Potential Routes

Someone posted on a different forum the 93 FR bases for Summer 2025 and number of aircraft at each base. Below is the wishlist of possible routes I think CWL could gain from FR. In brackets is the number of flights from BRS with FR and EZY combined to show current demand. Dublin 34** Malaga...

    Potential Routes

It's not unheard of. They need to find something for the aircraft to do. A seasonal base isn't sustainable as they'd need to recruit new crews every year. At least with a 1 aircraft winter Base they can keep crews permanent and increase the seasonal recruitment for anything more. Routes wise...

    Potential Routes

There definitely seems to be some traction of growth with FR and VY. It's a shame it's just on the core routes, but still a great achievements with probably the highest number of seats to ALC and AGP ever seen. I get the impression with the sudden increases from Vueling that some kind of new...

Some people will pick that apart. My workings might not be correct so welcome thoughts from anyone good with finance knowledge... The previous year was £5.3m grant with a £4m loss, and this year is a £10m grant with a £210,000 loss. Take the grants out and last year was a £9m loss and this year...

I'm no finance expert but I do wonder if the figures are a little manipulated when you take into account government grants.

    Potential Routes

This is an enthusiast site, consisting mainly of people that want CWL to do well and grow. Surely no-one can deny why questions can't be asked about why CWL is one of the few airports that haven't recovered since covid in the way other Airports can, especially when such popular routes are now a...

    CAA Provisional Statistics Update

Good timings with an ATR to bring prices down a bit will make the route work, as EI have shown with BHD.

Weather & Technical Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

Reported on other forums that Taxiway Echo is out of use, presumably overnight with the runway works. The VS A350 is supposedly on stand 6, so aside from possibly Stand 7 for a 787, there's no space. Shame, as CWL could've really helped out.
