Not sure how important the shops are to the makeup of airport revenue but passengers aren't spending money in the shops if they are stuck in security queues and then having to go directly to the gate.
At the end of the day the airport can max out the capacity with people queuing out of the door...
I know what you mean but it strkes me as a situation where staff are going to be seen as jobsworths.
Imagine if you've got a business class ticket or a fast track pass and you then get sent downstairs to join the queue to get the lift back up.
I'd like to see recognition in the statements...
I don't think that was the original target.
Strikes me more as - we really hope it's sorted by the school holidays as we'd rather not think about how bad it will be if it isn't.
All credit to Mr Barton for replying but it seems like some of the same old PR speak. It's not just the fact that...
Honestly I don't think 1 hour to get through security is a "good" experience, in fact compared to most airports it's poor. I really hope that the airport aspires to better than this.
If I arrived at any LHR terminal I would expect to and typically be able to get through security in 15 minutes...
It seems crazy to me that even if you arrive on the first floor and don't need to use the lifts they are sending you down to the ground floor to queue for the lifts.
Also I note the fast track entry is just outside the lift exit on the first floor, is the a way to access that without queuing...
The time for the guy in the influencey video, based on what he said from arrival to exiting security I put at 45 minutes.
There are no queues outside the terminal when he arrived, however the queue for the lifts appears to start in arrivals, not sure if you would be expected to go there if you...
It's a shame. When you have a total clean sheet design it seems like there are numerous opportunities to get this process running quickly and smoothly.
If it's now just a matter emptying pockets and removing belts this is something that could be done before the conveyors and only people who...

I get that but is it a bad thing, if the airport is making more money out of fewer flights?
In particular I'm talking about the extra flights here not the ones that sustain regular year around services.
I don;t usually book flights that require arrival at the airport before 4am as you are basically talking about losing a night's sleep here, plus there are difficulties with getting there on public transport which puts the price up.
I've used the Ibis Budget opposite the terminal before when I...
I am curious to see what it is like but my flight is less than 1 hr so the idea of queuing 3 hours outside the airport is not appealing. I'l probably buy the fast track ticket as a precaution.
So you are saying all of that is fake news and I can expect to get through security in a reasonable amount of time?
Maybe passengers are just aware of the problems and arriving really early now.
So none of this stuff happened?

As you know planes are going to leave on time whenever they can as they have no obligations to wait for passengers to get through the queueing system.
