Who remembers this gem of an article: https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/biggest-jets-could-land-at-leeds-bradford-chief-executive-says-1771711
Remind me, since it was published ~6.5 yeas ago, how many 787, 777, A350's have actually landed at LBA? I think I know the answer btw.
Re: Emerald. Between 4th Nov - 12th Feb, I estimate ~21 inbounds diverted and ~14 inbounds were cancelled. Worst performing services were the 2 early arrivals, namely : EI3390 and the EI3670.
Not sure if there was some doubt about the operational status of the airbridges, but can confirm the one linked to 7 had a Jet2 737 attached this morning. Photo via my sister who is heading to GVA btw
Ryanair sent in almost brand new 737 Max8 EI-IJB from STN this morning. Stayed for about 40 minutes and headed back to STN so must have been ferrying crew, engineering staff and or parts.
Or did they replace
I had to have a good think because it was around the same time that Metropolitan Airways took over the Dan-Air routes to Glasgow, Bristol and Cardiff. I saw it as a downgrade at the time going from a HS748 to a Shorts 330.
When I have time, I'll pull-out my old timetables...
The KLM NCL link massively out performs LBA with at least 1 to 2 737-800's rostered per day. On top of that, connections are also offered by Emirates, BA, Air France, Lufthansa etc.
First flight was in 1976 - BA VC10 Heathrow to Calcutta. First LBA was in 1983 on a Dan-Air 146 to Jersey and my last flight was a SAS Connect 320 Neo from Arlanda to Heathrow 4 days ago.
Most prized flight has to be LHR-LBA on a BA Concorde back in 1987.
