By no means saying Bristol shouldnt/wouldn’t be able to sustain a route like that, just saying Birmingham - as a larger city and airport - DEFINITELY should be able to! The mind boggles. Anyway easyJet’s service from BRS-TLS has always been amazing, I’ve used it a few times, just means a trip...
What a shame. I was expecting that, it’s appears and disappears all the time. Just come back from a lovely weekend there with Flybe and had a great time.
Back to Bristol with easyJet. One has to wonder how easyJet can make it work from a smaller airport & catchment area on a larger (A319)...
Couldn’t agree more Ray. Rome/Jet2 in general needs some competition and Blue Air are very cheap.
A dummy booking for 17-21st May to go to Rome next year is £182 with Jet2 from BHX which is eye watering (or is it just me??). BA from Heathrow are £85, less than half that...
Waiting for Larnaca now! All our family and friends have booked with Monarch because Blue Air are taking so long to release their Summer 2018 schedule. They all wanted to book with Blue Air but wanted the security of knowing they’ve booked. What a shame, lost customers. I wonder how many of...
Very interesting times indeed. It's unfortunate that Monarch's positioning is clearly a little confused (removing all long haul to focus on short haul then apparently doing a complete 180 on that decision...). I love the brand, especially where they're seemingly headed (new state-of-the-art...
I messaged Cobalt:
Hi there,
I just wanted to email to say, I really hope that you bring back Birmingham-Larnaca for Summer 2018. I wanted to write this suggestion to strongly recommend that you continue the route.
I understand why you dropped the route for Winter 2017/2018, and this makes...
Just contacted Cobalt via Facebook and they confirmed that it is being dropped for Winter.
I asked if it will return next summer and they said "we hope so. It depends on what competition will do".
With Jet2 also operating the route next year it's not looking great.
I read recently that Cobalt has a new UK partner to help with advertising and brand awareness.
This seems to be some of their work:
Great to see Cobalt doing some advertising! Also, just me being extremely anal or does it bother anyone else that they say Birmingham International Airport...
Yes, Flybe operated Split and Dubrovnik too :) I flew with Monarch on their short stint to Split. It's a beautiful city, and the easiest way to access the amazing island of Hvar (Google it!!). I'd certainly go back, glad to see Monarch return on the route.
I thought the same. I remember the days when they only operated a few schedule routes to Spain, with a number of charter flights to holiday destinations. It's great seeing places like Rome, Stockholm and Lisbon on the departure boards (with cities like Zagreb hopefully to follow for 2018), in...

Blue Air just confirmed via their Facebook page that they have a firm order for
6 x 737 MAX 8s - owned (with a further 2 options)
6 x 737 MAX 8s - leased from Air Lease...
TRIP REPORT
I just came back from an amazing holiday to Cyprus, flying with Blue Air from Birmingham (BHX) to Larnaca (LCA).
The morning flight out was at 11am and landed in Larnaca at 6pm - a perfect time to land, just in time to get to the house and take a stroll to the beach for sunset!
I...
Despite the (seemingly) poor loads and negative press, Cobalt have actually named Birmingham as on their radar as a destination to serve from the smaller Cypriot airport of Paphos....

"We also fly from Pafos Airport to Athens which is...
ALL 4 new BACF routes that start tonight still have available seats. I have no idea how many, but a dummy booking shows very low fares available on all of tonight's flights which cannot be a good sign...:unsure:
I really really hope the routes do well - but there hasn't been much...
Cobalt's connections are not bookable! Well.....sort of.
It says 'no flights' everyday for flights from BHX to Beirut (via LCA), and to Tel-Aviv only outbound flights appear (I guess the timings don't work on the way back).
From Stansted connections work for both Beirut and Tel-Aviv in both...
I'd be really keen to know if Blue Air have considered a BHX base. Maybe I'm just being greedy!
They're one of the fastest growing airlines in Europe, and I've been reading many articles recently about how they are now 'truly a pan-European airline' - with bases in Italy, Cyprus and obviously...
I noticed that too Ray! Using Larnaca as a hub has always been on their radar, but they're still a very new airline and setting up a hub certainly isn't an easy task. I imagine we'll have to wait and see. If they can execute it well, they could be very successful - Larnaca is in an excellent...
Interesting new article with Paul Kehoe. A highlight for me:
“British Airways’ decision to come back to Birmingham ten years after going could be big,” Kehoe says. “BA’s recognising it can’t fulfil the needs of customers via Heathrow alone. BA’s the most favoured brand in the world. And it’s a...
Currently in Bristol and every bus I've gone past has the same Monarch advert that Ray posted! Birmingham Airport is the closest to Bristol out of Monarch's bases; I wonder how many people from the SW use BHX.
