According to wikipedia "In summer, Sunwing Airlines sends many of their 737-800 aircraft over to Europe to operate for the TUI Group during their extremely busy season. The aircraft operate flights all around Europe for the company. "
Bit odd they should be doing that this summer - unless they...
I see they're using a cargo plane to bring them home. Are they stored like boxes? Also plane is cruising over the US at only 27000 feet - lack of passenger-grade pressurization?
It's just I've always thought of Lufthansa, Air France, KLM as occasional and TUI as one of the mainstays - obviously wrong in winter at least (though their 787s balance things out a bit!).
The councils don't 'own' the airport - they have fewer than 50% shares. From http://www.airportwatch.org.uk/uk-airports/birmingham-airport/
Airport Owner: Complex ownership arrangement: 49% – 7 West Midland Metropolitan District Councils. 48.25% – Airport Group Investments Ltd. (AGIL), a...
Luton flights diverting to BHX whilst BHX flights diverting to Liverpool, Edinburgh etc. Seems reasonable ;)
Can't wait for BHX flight diverting to "XYZ" at same time as "XYZ" flight diverting here!
Very sorry to hear of this second attack in a few weeks and hope you recover quickly - physically and mentally.
It could be useful if the forum admin, who know the victim of the first attack, could pass on a description of that attacker for the benefit of visitors to the Park.
So presumably Virgin/Stobart/Connect etc etc have got what they wanted from Flybe and now are happy to let the carcass rot?
Or are they just pulling a fast one believing the government will have to stump up some money?
Hadn't heard of the airline but quite some news if it happens!
Checking wikipedia they are due to get the new Irkut MC-21 soon which should have enough legs!
Did I imagine it, or was the Virgin/Delta/Stobart/Connect... version of Flybe due to get rid of all their jets, so removing all non-turboprop destinations?
Obviously not going to happen now, but BHX arrivals shows THREE extra Emirates A380's pencilled in for today EK7,29,31. We'll probably never know if they were all going to drop in, but imagine 5 A380's in one day!
Interesting that Air India switched the Mumbai-LHR service to BHX regardless of the outcome of the LHR strike talks. Probably a simple operational reason, but it got me wondering how many of the passengers would have been heading from LHR to the Midlands anyway. Also by fixing BHX as the...
I would guess that Emirates will have first refusal on any available A380 'slots'. Anyway, BA would probably rather crash-land them in the Thames than send them north.
