What condescending nonsense. You're clearly about a year to 18 months out of date with what's happening in the real world.
I won't post their names, but I'm well aware of several pilots who have gone from B200, BN2 and DH Twin Otter and other aircraft far below the 10-tonne MTOW threshold in...
If all Eastern have mustered is three E190s, that's all KLC need to replace (as they have from Hop). They have been covering the shortfall between anything promised and delivered by Eastern in the meantime, so no reason to expect that this can't continue. The three Hop aircraft will be flying...
Cor blimey - where to start!
Before the Eastern agreement, these UK-AMS routes were being flown by KLC aircraft and crews. Yes, they are short of both as a result of the PW engine issues on the E2 and the parent company's pilot recruitment. Isn't it a bit of a stretch to portray something...
As I said, our standpoints here are so completely far apart that time will be the only decider as to who is right. I believe Eastern are aware but I suspect that the seismic nature of this news in relation to the organisation means that they're simply saying nothing until they have worked out...
It's not wishful thinking - far from it. Where people's jobs are involved, it wouldn't be right to say "I bet you I'm right" as others have a great deal more at stake. But I've strong factual reasons to be absolutely certain that this is what's happening.
Most likely that there's a state of denial in Humberside, I think, and the few who know are not being forthcoming with the news.
You've another poster here saying clearly that LBA this winter will be all KLM metal - I don't know them or the basis for their statement but their words left...
I don't think anyone will see this as a bad thing! It sounds like the three aircraft coming from Hop! are indeed direct replacements for the three Eastern E190s operating for KLM even if flying different routes.
Word on the street is that Edinburgh routes to be dropped are Bergen, Cardiff, Guernsey and Newquay. Obviously the other three have other airlines (Norwegian, Aurigny and Ryanair) operating them.
"The people" or certainly "the person" at Eastern were under no illusions about why LBA did what it did and when. If they've chosen to present that differently within Eastern then so be it.
KLC - it's both. They couldn't crew the Embraer fleet if all of the E2s were working and I agree it is...
Eastern pulled their own scheduled services from LBA after a dispute with the airport about non-payment of fees and charges, in which the airport temporarily detained a Jetstream 41 after repeated warnings that the charges needed to be paid. If the airport "hiked up the fees" is the same thing...
Because BA haven't really "announced" the extra NCL - they've just put it on sale and the airport has publicised it. It's for a very limited period too. And they can withdraw it from sale just as readily and quietly if they need the slot somewhere else.
Start LBA-LHR instead, big fanfare...
BA's own statement last week said:
As part of International Airlines Group (IAG)'s Q1 2025 financial results, exciting new long-haul aircraft orders were announced for airlines across the group.
44 of these aircraft, including Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s and 777s, are due to be delivered to...
The two more ATR72s going into Emerald are both heading for frequency expansion at Dublin. The slot cap at Dublin was suspended and more slots became available. Planned Emerald growth into UK bases using its UK-based AOC was fairly swiftly binned and the two extra aircraft diverted to Dublin...
It simply wouldn't work. LCY is very much about point-to-point travel into the centre of London and you've got a train to do that job far more effectively than a limited frequency of flights from LBA could ever do.
I think two more airlines for 2026 is not an unreasonable aspiration. I...
The cause of the fall-out with LBA was not paying their bills and LBA taking action to impound a Jetstream 41 to get their money. That was quite a long time after the Texans had left the scene - three years later, I think.
So on the one hand, Eastern in the guise of RL have said to KLM "they'll do it" and on the other hand, Eastern in the form of its management team are saying "we can't possibly do this" and have told KLM as such. Doesn't that dysfunction perhaps strike you as the root cause of the issue...
