The schedule I've been given shows 2 x daily ATR72-600 by Eastern on LBA-Belfast City from 28 June:
T3 421 depart LBA 06:50
T3 422 arrive LBA 09:35
T3 425 depart LBA 17:10
T3 426 arrive LBA 19:55
I'm guessing but don't know that this would provide scope to put the ATR72 on LBA-NQY middle of...
Might be a good option right now. I wouldn't like to guess whether the domestic APD change on the horizon is sufficient to sort out the economics of the Edinburgh route for them, but it can only be helpful.
Surely MME-DUB going is a reflection of complete uncertainty as to when borders in Ireland will re-open for travel? I wouldn't plan or book a trip to Dublin at the moment, and it seems as though I'm not alone. With no DUB services from quite a few UK airports at the moment - CWL, EXT, MME...
LM have moved the LHR slots that they were holding for NQY across to other routes in recent days. I'd say any prospect of them launching LHR/NQY this summer is between remote and non-existent. Not sure which came first between them moving the slots at the notice about Newquay PSO procurement...
The Dutch airline would have been BASE which was Eindhoven-based and a BA franchise carrier flying Jetstream 31s and Embraer Brasilias.
BA CitiExpress flew LBA-LGW for a short time with a J41 when it had the LBA base. I seem to remember there was also a time when CityFlyer had a Sun-Air J41...
Eastern stopped flying for BA about two years ago. They had a really bad summer in 2018 in delivering the E170 flying and BA walked away. You can never say never with anything in today's world but many would be surprised if BA went near.
Please just look at the average fares achieved by Flybe in that report. If they're even half-way right (and I have reason to believe they are pretty close), there is a £25 difference per one-way passenger in the fares paid for CWL-EDI versus SOU-EDI. If you fly 19 roundtrips a week with that...
Interesting article from one of the analysis companies on Flybe's profitability this week. Link here
MAN-CDG, BHX-CDG, SOU-EDI/AMS/GLA/EGC/BHD and MAN-ABZ all in the top part of the list.
MAN-BHD/DUS, CWL-EDI/BHD/DUB, BHX-DUS and LCY-EDI all in the very bottom part of the list.
I think their...
More than just shades of Manx Airlines - they're the same airframes! Manx's G-WAWR is still flying as G-MAJD with Eastern and G-MAJA which was with Manx for a bit is still flying under its original registration with Eastern.
No, the remedy slots are tied to specific routes.
Heathrow have given out quite a lot of new slots for this winter which are really overbookings, expecting that some of those airlines holding slots won't turn up. The slots given to the likes of Westjet, Eastern and others are all on this...
The remedy slots aren't available for routes like LBA or MME. They're tied to certain routes (EDI and ABZ being the main two) if you fly them for three years, and only after that can you make a decision to use them on alternative short-haul services.
And just when you thought you'd never hear of this again, their website has been updated and they are "recruiting" for pilots.
They are also seeking investors. The investor pitch on their website says:
If there was a way of the double domestic APD being changed or routes becoming a PSO with an APD exemption, it would be a massive help. It's probably the best way forward for CWL today. The passenger doesn't look at a fare and think "it'll be £47 to fly to Edinburgh plus £13 APD so £60"...
