My bet is SpiceJet or indigo (I have zero inside knowledge). Based on the fact they both have slots ready to use... otherwise Cathay would be amazing surprise!
I agree that’s ludicrous & I’m definitely not thinking along those lines! I do however think to remain competitive with the connectivity to Europe, there needs to be a new approach. I had really hoped to hear some announcements for w19/s20 by now to some much needed unserved routes in Europe...
EU competition law primarily relates to the regulation of government intervention in markets or companies which are anticompetitive (monopolies). I wouldn’t say the airports/airlines are acting unlawfully, however I would say BHX needs to be a lot more competitive when negotiating with airlines...
Sorry what I meant by that was an airline (irrelevant of size) operating one destination 4/5 times per week shouldn’t be prioritised over an established LCC that could serve multiple destinations & with more frequency.
Really? There are so many unserved/underserved routes that wouldn’t affect these airlines so I don’t see that argument playing out. Plus if easyJet was interested, upsetting small fry in the name of bagging a decent established LCC In my opinion is a no brainer... Is easyJet definitely out of...
Just read this elsewhere on the internet.. Shame it’s not more regular
SAS will operate a short season of direct flights to Oslo and Stockholm over Xmas and New Year 19/20 using A320 & B737-700
A friend of mine has recently started working for TAP Portugal as a pilot. As part of a big recruitment drive, they are looking to expand their TATL market from Lisbon & introduce a new low cost model. Has anyone heard about this? Maybe one to watch as they may be looking to introduce feeder...
I disagree completely with this. BHX & EMA are not in the same league at all, EDI is probably the only comparable with BHX in the UK (not just by numbers but also mix of international & European routes).
As with any business, BHX followed a strategy which hasn’t been as successful as MAN...
Would Qatar step in on transatlantic at BHX? After that announcement from JetBlue, I really can’t see them heading to the midlands anytime soon.
Also, it it me or is the new CEO very quiet? I thought we might have heard a bit more from him on the Airports growth ambitions
I agree with the comments about short haul. Short haul should be a BHX priority moving forward as connectivity across Europe is really poor considering we are the UKs second biggest city. If I’m going long haul & can’t go direct I wouldn’t travel to MAN or London, just connect via AMS. BHX needs...
