Not sure how much that really matters, since it's not within the airport's gift to redistribute flights.
I'm not entirely convinced that this is really true either, since timing/frequency is usually rather important, so if you dilute frequencies at Bristol by adding a low-frequency service in...
Just to let you all know, if the previous pattern (of new routes appearing not long after I could've used them) continues we can be looking forward to the introduction of a new route to Oslo in the next 6-18 months ;)
If I remember correctly there were also some bigger road schemes in the planning or at least under consideration for the entire area between the M5 and the airport, including a new motorway junction or a moved junction or somesuch, so this might possibly make more sense in conjunction with that...
I don't think anyone disagrees with that. I believe the airport is pumping a fair bit of money into studies and proposals to enhance surface connectivity (Bristol South West Economic Link etc.), and has been supporting developments like the South Bristol Link road financially to the tune of...
Unfortunately those links are not permanent links, or they're user-specific, at least they don't work for me. (It's the same with Bristol's planning portal, slightly infuriating.) The application number to put in the search box is 18/P/5118/OUT.
Article on BBC News Bristol.
It sounds a bit like they will now complete all the things they had originally planned as part of the expansion to 10mppa, e.g.: two MSCP; transport hub on top of MSCP with covered pedestrian link to terminal; canopy and pedestrianised area in front of terminal...
EasyJet seems to be about to put 321neo aircraft into service, which must surely be for long haul use?
It's much more likely that they put those planes into use from bigger airports/cities like London of course seeing that they've got more seats than the planes EasyJet put on short haul routes...
It's been quiet in here. It seems like a lot of hopes people had haven't really panned out (yet!) - such as: flights to a US hub, flights to one of the hubs in the Middle East incl. Istanbul; a runway extension; B878 as a game changer for long haul from Bristol (although there are some flights...
Isn't CDG served 2-3 times a day by bmi nowadays (in addition to EasyJet)?
I agree frequency increases would be nice - lots of routes are only twice a week, if we could get that from once to twice per week or from twice to 3-4 times a week over the next few years that would make a massive...
Was in Sweden last week and asked someone about Ostersund and why EasyJet might fly there from the UK. Asked if it may be for skiing I got a half-hearted "yeah, I guess you might be able to ski somewhere around there" - didn't sound like it's a well-known location (I certainly hadn't heard of it...
Nice, so to add insult to injury it looks like in addition to the much lower frequency people living in Bedminster might also get to enjoy a 50% fare hike now for a return ticket (was £6 return from Bedminster, but now we'll have to purchase two singles at £4.50 unless there's still a reduced...
What the mayor said is this:
which can mean a lot of things. It does not say "has agreed to introduce a standard flat fare" for example.
In the same vein, I'm happy to agree to work with anyone who asks towards world peace. Probably still won't see it in my life time though.
The phrasing...
I suspect that report was based on Marvin Rees's State of the City Address from last night.
I thought they had put on an additional U3 route to complement the m3 Metrobus route to add capacity between the centre and UWE, but maybe it's still not enough.
There are also direct national express busses to the airport from various locations in Cardiff for what it's worth: http://nationalexpress.com/en/airports/bristol
You're probably right TLY.
I believe there are or were some reduced/intermediate fares on the A1 though - e.g. you pay £6 for a return to the airport going from/to Bedminster (vs. £11 or even £13 now). It's true though that there are no fares for intra-city travel on the A1 - I once tried to...
Just so we got this right: the A1 will follow the m2 metrobus route, while the A2 will follow the route of the upcoming m1 metrobus?
Though to be fair, it's not entirely clear which route the A2 will take - will it follow the current route through Bedminster and then go to Temple Meads...
So it would appear that the airport flyer will be using the metrobus link after all according to an article in the Post.
The A1 will be using the new spur to the South Bristol link road and then the m2 route from the Ashton Gate park and ride.
There will be a new/old A2 service that will still...
Just got an e-mail from flybmi advertising 'Turkish Delights' - apparently they've partnered up with Turkish Airlines. "Fly to the magical city of Istanbul from Manchester, London Heathrow or Dublin, where the East meets the West".
Not quite sure what the point of this is though - seems it just...
