I suspect the system has evolved a bit over the years, and I also that they are well aware that many people don't necessarily have bluetooth enabled. There are other ways to track individual devices, e.g. via wifi. Similar systems exist to track people's journeys through supermarkets. It's also...
It's not very far to the terminal, but if you have a bit of luggage you might prefer to wait a few minutes and take the bus rather than lug it all the way uphill to the terminal. Especially in bad weather. I suspect it's just the normal car park shuttle anyway.
I believe on the Swindon-Chippenham-Bath-Bristol section electrification will be done up to Thingley junction as part of the current/confirmed works, apparently that's because there's a feed from the electricity grid there. So that would exclude the Box tunnel section. Having said that...
I believe Filton Bank four-tracking is still going ahead.
I think we currently don't know if electrification of these sections is going to be axed completely (as you seem to imply) or if it simply gets pushed into the next Network Rail control period (CP6). We'll hopefully find out in a few...
I did not find Wow very competitive when going to the states (east coast) earlier this summer, also looking at various other dates. Just doesn't make sense (in terms of $$$ or time) compared to flying from LHR/LGW or via AMS, even more so given the ghastly middle-of-the-night stopover on the way...
Don't mind the uphill walk so much, but it would be nice to be able to get from car park to terminal without getting soaked if the weather is bad! I'd pay extra for that (and do so at LHR/LGW).
(Addendum: not that it makes any difference, since then you'll get soaked later when boarding the...
bmiregional have sent an e-mail saying something "big" for Bristol is going to be announced on 31 October. Unclear if it's just a marketing thing (like win free flights to German christmas markets or such throughout November/December) or something more significant. Hard to imagine what they...
I believe EasyJet are trying to target business customers as well, so I very much hope that they're working on increasing frequency on routes as well. It's fairly common that I have to go via AMS/FRA/BRU/MUC (or, god forbid, Heathrow) even though direct flights exist, just because there's no...
Just watched the video again and wondered about those air bridges depicted in the not-yet-existing eastern walkway - aren't they positioned at a really odd location straight off the eastern walkway? I mean, typically passengers would expect to wait at the gate and then walk straight through the...
Based on previous experience, the reinstatement of NYC should be imminent. BRS has a long history of announcing or starting new routes just after I had a need for them, most recently Vienna, Basel, Sofia, Frankfurt, Munich ;)
North Somerset are applying for multiple millions of funding from the government to do a study into massively upgrading the airport's surface connectivity, with the rationale that the current road network will soon constrain growth at the airport. In this context I find it hard to believe that...
I believe there was an M&S Simply Food in the fly-through video of the new arrivals hall which is being built in the western terminal extension below the new security concourse. Certainly looking forward to it, will come in handy!
I'm not convinced double-deckers would make sense. The current flyer busses are modified to provide baggage racks, which take up considerable space yet are still full to the brim when the busses are packed. I can't see people lugging their suitcases up the tiny staircases in a double-decker. I...
I believe the South Bristol Link road was originally planned to be 4 lanes wide, with one lane in each direction being a bus lane (so no dual carriageway), but then the bus lanes were dropped to reduce cost. Not sure if it really needs to be a dual carriageway. We'll see. I would expect new...
So when it's super-busy like that not all existing lanes are actually open and in use?
That doesn't match my personal experience as a pax, but I don't work at the airport, so don't know how representative my experience is.
Don't know if the flyers are worse now than they used to be. The rattling was there right from the beginning. I think they're still quite alright and serve their purpose well. I feel like there has been a slight reduction in frequency though, the "every 7-8 minutes" interval seems to be quite...
That's my understanding from various documents relating to the Ashton-Vale-to-Temple-Meads AVTM Metrobus route, the AVTM FAQ says
I would expect that in the longer run the flyer service will simply be incorporated into Metrobus network, possibly from two directions even: the AVTM could simply...
Looks like they still have some work to do on the *A integration front. Currently in Thessaloniki flying back to Bristol via Munich and they weren't able to check me in on the MUC->BRS leg and issue me a boarding pass. Apparently I have to pick it up somewhere in Munich. Strange. Good thing I...
