Me either, but I'd say that's the main worry since the terminal relies on it... Don't think there's much the council can do from planning perspective re terminal... Daytime flight hours more contentious though...

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

No way, that would be the worst outcome for Leeds... A branchline off Manc with no journey time improvement to London... Why not cut Western leg and send Mancs via Leeds.

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

WYCA vote whether to proceed the Parkway white elephant to final business case today at a meeting. The cost has ballooned to an astonishing £42m. Wasnt the direct rail link estimated at £100m and that was to the current terminal rather than much closer and lower new terminal?...

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

Lol I'm just giving an example here. Of course they'd work out suitable timings... Then they'd say no stays longer than 18 hours. Everyone happy with the minute detail of this theotical example now?

Very simple with modern tech Number plate recognition. No stays under one hour no stays over 12 hours. Otherwise a fine.

But I thought hopping on a bus to a nearby rail halt was incredibly easy and took no time and hassle at all? ;) On a more serious note though surely some solution could be found for locating said car park or a land swap deal with the airport etc.

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

I'd love the tram train option but we know how that always ends for Leeds. Also once any Parkway is built then the business case for direct link is greatly diminished. Finally why can't a direct link also work with Park and Ride?

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

According to Ordnance survey if I read correctly the existing rail line is at 125m. Scotland Lane is around 170m. A rail halt in a cutting therefore could be at 160m A difference of 35m. Over 1300m this would be a gradient of 2.7% (1 in 37). Generally I believe sttepest heavy rail gradient is...

I have actually emailed them but only via a generic email address since they aren't too forthcoming on the website. A direct contact would be appreciated. I refer to everyone when describing Internet keyboard experts myself included. My only wish is they at least revisit the study... Then...

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

Yes indeed I am... Hence why I am so keen they do a new study on the costs and benefits... Rather than make assumptions.

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

So you can still have the Park and Ride income... There's just a greater upfront cost? Therefore a longer payback period but with benefit of likely more airport users (since less faff), and harder to quantify benefits like more likelihood of inward investment, easier journeys for tourists, less...

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

Why is everyone (desktop keyboard experts) so certain the gradient and cost of digging a cutting are still prohibitive. The terminal is now in a completely different location to original study. Firstly the length of cutting required is much shorter (cheaper). Secondly the land is much lower...

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

My worry with waiting/relying on a tram link is twofold. 1. We've been waiting decades and seen so many delays and arguments 2. It will be much slower than heavy rail There's appetite right now for a heavy rail halt and one seems likely to be built. It seems madness for the sake of 3/4 mile...

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

Well my thinking is this A direct terminal front makes the Leeds journey far better (and removes the arguments about lugging cases and families on and off buses etc). Don't think anyone can argue with that. I believe also the journey to York would be much better (over an hour via Harrogate...

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

There's NO direct links anywhere with a Parkway.. With direct link to terminal front to get to Harrogate you'd change trains at Horsforth. No worse than changing from bus to train at Parkway. To get yo York you'd change at Leeds and probably a faster journey also (they could consider direct...

Would be interesting if theres scope to add a third air bridge since if we say added three daily flights to Brussels and Paris would 2 be sufficient?

    Future Infrastructure Developments

To be honest, for me it would be much more valuable to have a KLM service to the likes of Brussels, Paris, Germany, Madrid than most long haul routes (besides perhaps NYC/Dubai).
