The movements for Sunday 5th May last year were reported as 574. There was an indication of a slow-down in the rate of growth of movements in March - perhaps partly attributable to the timing of Easter in each year - and I think Scottie has suggested that April movements may be up approx 4.5%...
I wonder if we'll hit the 600 movements over the Easter weekend.
599 is the closest we've been I think in the last week or so.
The highest I could see for the Easter period last year was 578 on Monday 8th April. Easter Monday I believe was the previous week but school holidays would likely have...
It would have been interesting and speculative had the official closure due to the fire happened a couple of hours or so later. Whether airports like BHX, MAN, & LGW could have taken more in such circumstances is maybe doubtful, but none went to STN as far as I know, nor EMA. I imagine EDI is...
To add to David's list, ET700 an A35K from ADD, originally diverted to BRU. It then came to MAN arr. 11.03.
Incidentally, the BA112 and 176 were from JFK, the BA66 from PHL and BA 64 from Nairobi.
I shouldn't be too concerned. While strong winds are still forecast for New Year's Day, the expectation of snow for the northern part of England seems to have diminished. On Breakfast, Matt Taylor had the risk of snow on Wednesday extending to the north of the weather front which would bring...
That's a disappointing number of cancellations Scottie considering the weather at MAN was never below Cat2 conditions as far as I know, let alone Cat3. I wonder how LTN & STN fared where the weather was very similar to MAN.
The other interesting aspect is there were 10 easyjet and 6 Norwegian...
Certainly a marked contrast between Monday, Friday and even Thursday, compared to Tuesday / Wednesday. As long as movements continue to be up on last year, that's encouraging. Hopefully, passenger numbers follow.
If it was a divert, it could be up to 13 in total. After I posted 9, our own DUB returned; I'd missed another ryanair who came in I think; and we've recently taken a LBA ryanair diversion.
That's quite a drop from 645 last Thursday to 593 but then we are in October. Still ahead of the equivalent Thursday last year though which was 547 movements.
You're quite right David. 5 x weekly but a dedicated SIN flight does mean a significant increase in capacity for MAN-SIN compared to the IAH shared operation.
The wife and I flew with SQ back in 2005 when the flight was non-stop. I have a feeling the flights were daily at one stage and...
Yes, thanks Scottie. Much appreciated for the same reason as EGCC_MAN.
Great to see that portfolio of airlines and routes going east. Given their loads, I hope GF will be going daily (if they have the a.c)). SV and CX at 6 x weekly - surely they could be daily. Disappointing if SQ stay at 5...
Saturday the lowest movements in the week and quite a contrast with 691 on Monday and 672 on Thursday.
Nevertheless, 608 is still a decent increase from the first 2 Saturdays in September last year which were 571 & 563.
I think we may still be short of 30m when the August pax figures are...
A cursory look at corresponding days in Aug'23 shows how much busier a Tuesday has become this year,
Thursday and Monday seem to be the days with most movements, Wednesday and Saturday the quietest.
That's interesting Ian. At MAN, Saturday also has been the quietest in terms of movements, probably followed by Wednesday. I can only assume it's either because based a/c are switched elsewhere as they are hardly likely to be idle, fewer 'w' patterns, or because there are a higher proportion...
