After the mishap, MAN has taken 4 divs including the first 3 after the runway was closed.
FR2311
EZY047
LS186.
Since then, just LS272, plus FR3580 which actually refiled for MAN from Beauvais.
I think 3 x Jet 2 have gone to EMA, 2 to BHX and 1 to NCL
2 diversions to MAN from LBA this morning. FR152 from DUB and FR2333
from Krakow due to crrosswinds I imagine.
Our EK20 that diverted to BHX on Wednesday, finally left MAN just after 17.30 yesterday. Was showing as EK20 on FR24. (UAE1C).
Thursday's flight was still on the ground at 22.00...
I thought the A380 was repositioning back to MAN but he's been on the ground 2 hours now.
The latest metar for MAN was 070 at 12kts in light rain so I can't imagine it would be a problem this time
I'm sure Ian is correct. Some years ago, I recall being told by a former member of the MAN Routes Development team that they can't afford not to attend these events, especially World Routes, for the reasons Ian mentions.
It's not just the formal booked appointments with airlines but the more...
Have now looked at the full list of attendees rather than filter for airports 15m-30m in Europe - which would have excluded BHX. You're right. BHX is listed, and so are LPL, EDI, LGW, LHR.
Personally I'd find it astonishing if MAG chose to include MAN under STN or MAN itself were happy to do...
That's strange. Only STN & LTN shown, but I understand the Route Development team from MAN were attending. Perhaps only one of the MAG group were registered even though MAN will be there. I'd expect BHX to be there as well.
A good month for passengers - only 3.91% down on September 2019, which, without re-checking, I think is the lowest decrease so far this year. Less said about freight the better!
Many thanks Scottie. The ATC problem was August bank holiday of course, not September. as I suggested.
Adjusting for the 2 blank days with no data and the losses on the Monday and to a lesser extent Tuesday for the ATC issue, August would have been the best month at about 18,300 movements. So...
Not unexpected that daily movements are down 30-40 now that we are out of peak season. I was a little surprised to see a fall quite early in September though.
I guess the MAN stats will be out shortly for September. With the ATC problem and all the resulting cancellations, further progress in...
It's a shame we don't have 12 US routes now. I'm not sure US pre-clearance is on the agenda as a priority at least for the time being given the much reduced US flights. But circumstances and technology have changed anyway so personally I'd be surprised if it were to happen for the foreseeable.
I don't think we can ignore the impact of exchange rates. Airports like BHX and MAN rely primarily on UK originating passengers. Some months ago, the pound seemed to be rebounding a bit and briefly reached $1.31 to £1. Today it's nearer $1.22 and has been sliding steadily recently. This is...
Personally I would be cautious about this. Wasn't a A330 or B787 earmarked for this summer only to be replaced by the Omni B767. We can but hope AC do actually operate what they are currently showing for S2024.
Today's MAN flight is a B777W (showing on FR24) due to a backlog of passengers when a B789 had to be used as the B787-10 wasn't available. Thanks to SPD Travels for the information.
The SV253 is showing as a B787-10 on FR24 en route.
It does seem the Saudi flights to both BHX and MAN have...
I wonder why there were 25 Jet2 cancellations on Wednesday. Was it just the backlog from the ATC problem getting aircraft and crew back, or tech issues?
Including transits, the figure for MAN was just over 3m, an encouraging milestone reached since the
pre-covid days.
The trend of the change in the 12 month Moving Annual Total figures compared to 2019 is also encouraging: -
Jan: -14.96%
Feb: -13.11%
Mar: -11.75%
Apr: -11.31%
May...
Thanks Scottie. That makes sense. The 2 movements therefore were both arrivals and no departures.
I do wonder if we'll see AC at all next summer, or whether they might just put on a proper AC aircraft.
Just curious as to what happened with AC/Omni Air. yesterday. 1 movement for each and an AC cancellation.
Todays inbound AC2410 is shown as cancelled but the outbound as "wait in lounge".
It suggests an a/c went tech and no surprise if it was the Omni B767 again.
Great to see 600 ATMs on Friday.
Hope you enjoyed your time away Scottie and many thanks for catching up on the Movements log so quickly. Really appreciated.
That's interesting. We're 5 miles to the east of MAN and I didn't see any lightning or hear any thunder.
It's not the first time in recent days that the storm has been out to the NE which has played havoc with arrivals but allowed a/c to take off. BHX, EMA, LBA, NCL and LPL have all had...
Was it even a thunderstorm? I thought it was a heavy shower with cunim clouds which caused the usual problems at MAN if there are numerous a/c at various stages of descent and approach.. When approaches did restart,, there seemed to be one or two longer gaps as a/c were descended from higher...
