Isn't that the perceived problem. Happy to plod along as long as the numbers stay about the same or don't drop to much?
So we lose Berlin .Doesn't matter we will replace the it with more Palma. Lyon? throughput easily replaced with a few more Alicante.
This is not the first time this has reared its head. I recall a project being stopped by John Prescott when he was something important
in the Labour government due to the same objections by BHX/CAA.
Back then though i guess they were forecasting an airport with 25/30m pa by now.
Now they have...
Dropped some people off at BHX early on 16 Sept as i was off that day drove around to Sheldon Country Park as many years since i was there that early ,about 0730, to view the early morning rush.
Poor visibility so did not see any landing.but did hear 2 in 5 mins climb away over Sheldon engines...
If this is correct and i have heard it many times what is the end result? A business cannot keep selling the same product as its competitors
at inflated prices without eventually going bust. Are they heading down the same path as some of their largest customers have over the last few years...
It was not served for years. Why? It seemed to be doing well first time around with Czech sometimes operating 2 on some days and also Bmibaby.
Then its gone completely!.
Then it comes back and the stats show it is carrying more or very close to most of the airports we are competing with who have...
On the other hand we do have a longer runway, much of it free by any nasty rubber stains. Once you have negotiated the dingy check in area there are lovely shops in the Mall, sorry departure lounge whilst you wait for your flight to Palma Alicante or Ibiza.. The link to the Railway station is...
The 737 MAX issues must have hit them very hard. They also have ever increasing employee relation problems and have initiated a kinder
Ryanair advertising campaign that has largely failed.
They are still the kings of spin but i a not sure how comfortable airports where they have a large...
I hope you are right .The fact nobody had come in to compete with them on these routes could mean airlines not wanting to dilute
their loads from other airports or a limited Midlands market not worth competing for.
Hopefully airlines don't think they can absorb the BHX passengers into their...
Yeeah. There are going to be loads of people scanning the Flybe site so they can organize their travel plans around around whatever days
Flybe decide they might or might not operate a flight.
Great article. Interesting to make a comparison with how the Aston Expressway ripped the heart out of Aston, Nechells and to a lessor extent Newtown and has made it impossible to revive those districts, and the Metro which even i was surprised is going to take NINE YEARS!! to extend from...
My worry is these are business more than leisure routes and probably not suitable for the 150+ seat aircraft operated by the airlines the airport hopes to attract.
They are certainly not seasonal routes so once they are gone they are gone.
I really cannot see an airline with the equipment...
Why the ++++ don,t they just announce the route closures and if they will not why doesn't the airport?
This nonsense where people have to find out for themselves when making plans is getting ridiculous.
No fumes but it would take a lot longer than that with the frequent stops to recharge there electric cars.Thats if they can as the national grid can just about cope at the moment. And if the wind is light forget it.vfff
Simon Calder referred to Easyjets shortest mainland route. This has been spun to read the UK''s shortest.
How can they have created something that has existed longer than i can remember?.
That is what people with agendas do and it is made easy for them by our lazy national press.
Anybody announcing expansion plans years ahead based on the the on time completion of a major infrastructure project is either deluded or looking for free publicity.
Never mind it being a long time in aviation. It is a very short time to expect the completion of a major UK infrastructure...
