I recall past times sat in the terminal watching the SAS Caravelle depart to Dublin. Save for a Viscount arrival 35 , Minutes later, the next movement was the Sud Aviation Se210 arriving back.

It's the best connected airport in the UK by a country mile , infact a factor of 3:1 compared to our national treasure LHR.
Of course detractors would argue demand exists and that lack of slots are to blame.
