Might not be a bad idea.

New name for Leeds Bradford Airport

PIA used to refer to LBA as 'Bredford'. Obviously Leeds was beneath their notice and spelling wasn't important.

Weather & Technical Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

In my experience it's rare to hear a report of 'heavy rain'. 'Moderate rain' is usually as bad as it gets, unless the criteria have recently changed. Similarly, a cloud base of 'overcast' isn't often reported.

Leeds Bradford Airport £100m Regeneration Programme

It's the interior of any terminal building that counts, not the exterior. That is where passengers are processed and money is spent.

Bring back the RB211, a modernised version of course and stick those to the wings!

FWIW I can wait indefinitely for A321 operations from LBA. My main interest now is getting rid of the 733s once and for all. They may be bought and paid for etc., but they're also increasingly erratic and not a good reflection on Jet2 locally.

Airport Consultative Committee [Questions & Responses]

Might have been two engineers! Assuming Peel still owns the radar head one would hope some sort of care and maintenance is ongoing for such an expensive asset. LBA could get first dibs as a Watchman replacement some time in the future.

Airport Consultative Committee [Questions & Responses]

Agreed. Radar rooms can theoretically be anywhere at all but obviously it makes sense to be on the airfield of concern if the same team of controllers are providing ADC too. I hope the Doncaster radar is being looked after while it is inactive. They are jolly expensive!

A321s notwithstanding, if any existing (or new) Jet2 base would like GDFO they are welcome to it. Plus any number of equally past it, worn out 737-300s. It's almost unfair to LBA base that they have to put up with these old bangers while everywhere else has a relatively new and rather more...

Airport Consultative Committee [Questions & Responses]

The radar room at LBA could probably squeeze in one more position to service another airfield's approach radar function but the room itself really couldn't be enlarged. A few years ago, Thinking Space pulled off a spectacular TARDIS job on the room but a facility with more floor space would have...

Does this mean potential DSA airspace being controlled from a position at LBA Radar or have I misunderstood?

Considering it was only reopened yesterday and is already closed again, 'farce' is definitely the word I'd use. I don't know why Alpha is closed again. Hopefully nothing that can't be quickly overcome.

Taxiway Alpha is now closed again! What a farce.

There's currently a Jet2 737 in the LBA hold. Anyone know the reason ? I'm not home so largely clueless just now.

Isn't Jet2 on record fairly recently, announcing the Bournemouth base and adding there would be no further bases? If that is still so, then no Gatwick. I'd like to see Jet2 get rid of the 733s now, once and for all and improve the ground support vehicle maintenance and baggage handler...

Air Traffic, ILS & Navigation Aids

#a300boy. Do you ever notice this? By and large, LBA RT quality is reasonably good in my experience but this business of inconsistent speech levels is one I come across on all LBA frequencies with a few different controllers. It all seemed to begin with the Frequentis VCCS replacing the Schmid...

The Tower controller is virtually unreadable just now. TX strength 5 but his speech keeps fading in and out. Suspect failing microphone. Not the first time I've heard this happen but pilots don't always notice.
