I noticed a couple of departures off RW32 around 8 a.m. today made right turns after takeoff. I'm not aware of and changes to SIDs or any ropey weather at the time.
I don't care for all the 'e by gum' nonsense either. It signals a lack of sophistication and seriousness. In a similar vein, I can't be doing with cinematic garbage like Kes and Brassed Off. Those attitudes haven't aged well and have no place in promoting business nowadays.
If the LBA Marketing bods were promoting a circus or school for wannabe comedians they'd have the right approach. But this 'Ey up' business lacks class and makes me cringe.
I agree about all the 'Ey up' language. It's not a serious way to promote a serious business. I find it quite patronising and sums up our region as a land of ignorant peasants. Not good.
The stand allocation is the responsibility of the Airside Operations Unit and is an ongoing process throughout the day, with last minute stand changes not unknown!

There should be unashamed promotion, pictures and everything else in the media showing what's going on, plans and progress and so on. That would simultaneously encourage passengers and the travel trade whilst saying to the doom mongers, 'B****ks to you, this airport is happening and expanding...
Purely speculative of course but Southwind could temporarily transfer their aircraft and crews to the Sun Express AOC and operate them that way. Might not be legal or something SunEx or Pegasus or whoever would wish to consider. It's a thought though.
