... and they're out!
286377 pax in May. Busiest May ever and a 13.3% increase on May 2010, the strong growth continues even after the opening of the FR base.
Year-to-Date figure is now 2.913m, just short of LBA's busiest YTD ever, which was 2.914m in Aug 2008.
No such thing as a DME approach, all the DME does is tell the aircraft it's distance from the airport and is used as a part of instrument approaches, not on it's own. Is it maybe NDB/DME or SRA instead?
I think the plan with the 777 would be to park it on the N3/N4 apron. I don't think that the tarmac section of taxiway N (ie. most of it) would take the weight of the 777, and taxiway N is the only way for larger aircraft to access the stands near the terminal.
Not really 'unwitting', you have to drive past a multitude of signs warning you about it before you get to the entry barrier, and there's still a free option.
It costs a lot of money to run an airport. In the past, the airlines charged this money through their fares and passed it on to the...
That's the UHF frequency for vehicles and personnel on the manoeuvring area. The VHF frequency (120.3) is re-broadcast on the UHF frequency, but not vice versa.
No, not just yet. The YTD figure was higher than 2.88m between July and November of 2008. The highest it's ever been was 2.914m in August of 2008, which isn't much more than now so give it a month or two.
Figures out today. The April pax figure for LBA was an astonishing 265235. Never mind comparing to April of last year with the ash cloud, that beats the previous busiest April (2006) by more than 45000 passengers.
The rolling year-to-date figure jumps to 2.88m, overtaking Aberdeen (which itself...
Belfast City's figures for January have belatedly appeared in the CAA stats today, confirming that LBA leapfrogged both BHD and LCY last month to move up to 15th. Aberdeen to follow next month?
Having lost their Ryanair flights recently, I can't see the Belfast City numbers being great when they appear. LBA was right behind them last month, so I'm sure that'll be another place gained this month, with Aberdeen to follow next month.
After that, there's a bit of a jump to the next pack...
Re: Potential Routes
Yes, but so is the ground! If the meteorological conditions are not right or the aircraft is too heavy, then the aircraft will get too close to the peak. Performance calculations are done to make sure terrain is cleared by set minima on departure, and take into account what...
Is it still plastered across the terminal?
For an airport, an international business if ever there was one, choosing such a parochial and baffling slogan defies belief.
I've been thinking about this. Whilst LBA is certainly on course to climb a few places in the 'league' (Aberdeen, London City and Belfast City are all very definitely in its sights), it isn't possible to judge this on a single month's figures. It would be ok if all airports had similar...
Well, going by previous years, it's generally slightly busier in November than December, bottoms out in January and then recovers a bit in February. All four months are fairly close so, like you say, November should give us an idea of what kind of a winter it will be. 170000 would be in the...
I've been geeking out a bit. Here's what the current year is looking like compared to every year back to 2003, (seemed like a good starting point as Jet2 arrived that year).
Monthly pax on the vertical axis:
So, in 2009/10 LBA had a terrible winter leading into its best ever summer and...
Thank you, its nice to be here.
If I may offer the perspective of an outsider, LBA has done extremely well over the downturn compared to nearly every other UK airport. It's natural to be impatient to see progress at the local airport, but it's worthwhile reflecting on how well the airport is...
Care to share with the rest of us? There's a post on the (ex) EGCN forum front page saying that the hosting company has removed the board without explanation. A rather cryptic post on The Dried Fruit by another DSA forum owner suggests that the airport have a hand in things. A yet more cryptic...
I'm a newcomer to the airport (and this board, hello!), but I've been extremely impressed by the recent performance of the airport during the recession. As I see it, it's not surprising at all that the terminal was delayed as growth in passenger numbers slowed, I expect the finance for projects...
