Yes, hopefully but I can’t see it lasting into the long term. Maybe Qatar or Etihad could also bring in a A380 on one on their services in the future, after all there are 3 stands on pier 2 which are A380 capable.

Great reporting from the MEN as usual! “The new equipment will eventually mean travellers do not have to remove liquids from their bags”. It sounds like you have to remove liquids now but won’t in the future, surely this isn’t correct?!

Sorry…I wasn’t very clear in my previous response. I meant to say Piers B & C will be used but just not internally so therefore no point in refurnishing them. Yes, they will be used (‘or at least Piers C) as a bussing operation from the T2 B gates. There are actually 3 piers in T2, don’t forget...

I personally think in time it will be renamed T1, but for now and once Ryanair have settled into their new check in/bag drop off and security areas at the end of the year, then maybe a renumbering will take place…it would be logical as the airport has already said the future is a two terminal...

That smaller pic in the press release looks like the current upstairs (where the old BA lounge was), it will be a new bar area for seating up ton 500 people. There will be a new route into T3 departures but it's not been confirmed where that route will be. The duty free in T1 is remaining so...

My latest trip through the airport this time was through T3 for both trips, arriving on the 8th May at 10.20am, hand luggage only, so I was out of the airport 15 mins after disembarkation. Another flight from Tenerife had landed just before our's, no queue at passport control but as both flights...

Apparently the pier 2 will become operational in July but for the airlines currently using T2. So I think post the summer period we can expect airlines from T1 to transfer over. It’s not clear when BA are moving from T3 but it’s due to happen before the end of summer, same for Loganair.

I recall quite a few years ago now, some CGI's of a bridge connecting legacy T2 to Pier C...as long as it has windows and travellator's will be fine! (And then I woke up!).

Is there a direct link from T3 to Pier B? Unless they make a new connection, I did read something a few months ago about a construction firm getting a contract to create a new walkway from T1 duty free area (for the new T3 departures) through to the T3 departure lounge...

I disagree ref the amount of space, more so for the winter period. During the winter just gone, I observed many quiet periods over in T2 when there was around 5/6 EasyJet aircraft occupying stands in T1. For example, a lot of the overseas based aircraft flying into MAN arrive between 7.30am...

Thanks as always for the info @Scottie Dog from the MACC. Interesting comment from Chris Woodroofe ref Ryanair's transfer over to T1 departures at the end of the year...this would suggest that MAG has or will likely request an extension to the DoT for the continued use of the current security...
