A point to note regarding APD is that this was paid up front by all pax, so the cash receipts were used on something else rather than being ring-fenced to cover the tax liability.
Apologies, not being local, I am unfamiliar with the geography.
I only remember sitting in a car queueing for at least a mile, a couple of times, waiting to get to the island at the top.
my worst jaunt was when the M5 was closed just south of Avonmouth and the whole of Bristol city centre...
I think I have mentioned before, a benefit of a base with respect to city flights is that you can be at work earlier and catch a later flight back home.
I think one thing the council should consider is improving access roads.
Each time I have been to Bristol airport, there have been long queues from Lulsgate Bottom to the traffic island at the top of the hill
Good luck and Happy New Year, Brumx.
have you ever taken the trip down to Puerto Mogan? Rollo has a photo of it as his avatar.
Well worth a visit except on market day.
My only issue with an away based service to Amsterdam is that they are on CET, so by the time you get into the city, or elsewhere, it’s past 11.
Will likely be sticking with KLM.
Easyjet are losing biz by not running Birmingham services all the time IMO.
I need to go up to Edinburgh next week and would have checked the easyJet website as first port of call. But as there is no service, I am being ripped off for over £200 by FlyMayBe.
Friends, who live in Kenilworth, flew First to Melbourne a couple of years ago on Emirates from Heathrow.
When I asked them about the route, they said it was door-to-door via limo.
I think 6 or 7 hours in a limo from Glasgow would prove a little too much.
Alex Macheras has tweeted
Announcement to public re-#ThomasCook to be made once all aircraft are on ground — (with no obligation to make public statement until the markets open at 07:00 BST on Monday).
The same as Monarch.
Wet lease aircraft are on their way to the UK.
Very sad.
I wasn't sure where to place this but there is news of Birmingham - so if it's not appropriate admins, please move it to wherever.

I use the name because I don’t appreciate my flight home being delayed / consolidated / departing from another airport after a long day’s work.
Every time I have flown with them, there has been a thinly disguised consolidation of some sort meaning having to sit in an airport departure lounge...
Not being one in “the know”, I would look at the new route as easyJet utilising additional resource at Glasgow rather than the pre-cursor of a Birmingham base.
A twice daily service, one at the start of the day and the other near the end would fill four short flights with business travellers...
