Can only agree with all of the positive comments for Sentinel. Really slick operation and friendly staff. I rate them very highly.

    CAA Provisional Statistics Update

It was still the second busiest month ever for BA on the route, beaten only by September 2016. The general trend throughout this year has been upwards.

    Aurigny Air Services

Hope this route continues to do well. Summer-only makes sense, if Jersey isn't a viable route in winter from LBA, then Guernsey certainly couldn't have been!

Delighted to have TCX back again with based aircraft. However, will give the 4:45am departure to Mahon a miss, I think!

Rumours about new destinations or airlines?

NWI was the one which came to my mind too, with GLA-LBA-NWI being quite a direct routing and all segments being a bit of a pain by road or rail. A J41 (or Saab 340 if Loganair) would be an ideal sized aircraft to commence with. CWL or EXT would also be great options, given existing public...

    CAA Provisional Statistics Update

First issue of CAA stats for Aug 17 just released. Not much on there yet for LBA, just the following: Heathrow 15198 (+5%) - 3rd busiest month ever with BA (only Sept 15 and Sept 16 busier) Glasgow 182 (-66% - ended during the month) Guernsey 1742 (+8%) Jersey 3756 (+11%) Newquay 3131 (new -...

    Aurigny Air Services

I suppose it depends on whether this year's 5 x weekly summer schedule had quite a few spare seats on certain days. A 3 x weekly next summer more timed to peak days might focus demand on the larger ATR72, so numbers using the service may hold up ok. I suspect summer seasonal Guernsey is...

    Flybe

Whilst it's just one route added and we should try to keep our feet on the ground (remember SOU, ABZ, NOC, EXT, LGW), if DUS does well for Flybe, then this, together with the excellent passenger numbers being seen on the recently introduced NQY service (albeit with a subsidy) must surely...

    Route Development & Rumours

One of my first thoughts when I saw the operating days and times for the rumoured Eurowings flights was how similar they are to the short lived SAS service we enjoyed (and I was lucky enough to make use of). Hopefully, more people will use this service, if confirmed.

    British Airways

I don't think it's just an oldie thing, there are many, many people of all ages who actively holiday outside of school holiday weeks to avoid the little noise generators and higher prices. Weather is still great in June, early July and September.

    CAA Provisional Statistics Update

The figures for December 15 on the Heathrow route, which had initially looked incorrect, have now been updated and show 11768 for the month, up 12%.

Brown Air also leased a 330 for a few months (G-BEEO) when it first added its Leeds-Glasgow route. Air Ecosse also used this type on its Gatwick-Leeds-Teesside service. British Midland also occasionally sent their 360's on the weekend Heathrow services in the 1980's.

    CAA Provisional Statistics Update

Completely agree, the Heathrow domestic figures don't appear to be correct at present. In the absence of reliable data, at least we can currently say LBA had the lowest percentage drop of all the domestics from Heathrow!

    Ryanair

Interesting! Appears to be Belfast International which Ryanair are looking to serve. With Belfast being one of the most robust and popular domestic routes from LBA over the past few decades, I'm confident it can take Ryanair jumping in without Flybe running away. Even if Flybe numbers take a...

    CAA Provisional Statistics Update

Strangely, I'm actually quite surprised that the decrease was only 3.3% given we had such a high proportion of diversions and cancellations during November compared to other airports, due to what seemed an endless flow of foggy days, wind and low cloud. In my eyes any route which saw growth...

    Aer Lingus

Re: Aer Lingus (Stobart Air) Great news! I seem to recall Aer Arann used to get good numbers when they flew previously to Cork with ATR72's. Three times a week is a sensible frequency to launch, with scope to increase over time if does well. I'm optimistic Stobart will do well with this route...

    ExtraJet

For a company wishing to appear serious to professionals (who are likely to be the only ones willing to fork out the fares suggested), I thought the choice of words used on their Facebook page to describe their proposed new website to be also somewhat innapropriate.

Retail, Food & Drink Outlets Thread

Re: Retail, Food & Drinks Thanks for clarifying, White Heather. Was about 6 months ago when I last used the ground floor gates, will take a little look when I next fly out of LBA. Interesting that the airport is running its own shop (whilst we still have WH Smith upstairs in Departures opposite...
