The flight times of approx 2 hours suggest a jet operation of some type, so may be able to rule out the AUA Dash 8 Q400's from the outset. That in itself will be seen by many as an enhancement to the service given FlyBe's use of that type previously on the route.
As someone who lives in Church Fenton, I agree with many of the points raised by Nicholas1992. Had we been in this position 50 years ago before LBA became as established as it is today, then the pro's of Church Fenton may have weighed more favourably against the cons. Cost and litigation would...
I have also just flown on ZBAA and ZBAB having just returned from a trip to Rome. Unlike Airforced, I was sat in a standard legroom seat, which to be quite frank had woeful legroom. And don't even get me started on if the person in front decided to recline! I'm rarely one to worry too much on...
Very encouraging figures. Remember too that we had horrendous weather during March, with many days affected by diversions and cancellations due to fog and snow. The LHR passenger figures also took an additional knock due to a number of technical glitches with the small fleet of T1 based 319's...
Although the full February provisional passenger stats aren't yet published for LBA, they do show that 9326 people used the BA service to/from LHR last month, which was a very healthy increase on January's figure and is even more encouraging considering February has fewer days too. On top of...
White Heather,
On a separate matter, I'd be very grateful if you could advise whether any comment or detail has been discussed at the meetings with regard to improvements for this summer to the number of transfer buses available for pax needing to reach aircraft on stands beyond the new...
End of an era, given the number of years the bmi Regional (in all it's guises) have served LBA, together with the years mainline bmi/British Midland flew from here too. I've used this service myself previously for a Star Alliance transfer via BRU and was an excellent experience.
If there is a...
I was one of the lucky passengers to have just flown into LBA on G-MEDG. Fabulous ex-BMI mid-haul interior with business class and seat back TV's in ecomony (though weren't in use for such a short flight). Would estimate pax load was in the region of 60-70, so guessing planned 319 was...
Thanks for the updates user001 and Ridgeback, I hope I speak for many that it's great to get a feel from those with access to a few facts of how BA likely perceive the route's performance to date. To be honest, it's more encouraging than I expected to hear that yields are seen as so-so at this...
JakeS - even so, an in-depth 4-5 minute article by BBC Look North, with interviews, detailed explanation of how this could benefit the Yorkshire economy (inbound visitors as well as outbound, with potential increased trade for hotels, restaurants, shops, etc) and transport correspondent on...
Fingers crossed the local media will make a big deal of BA's return on 9th December (or perhaps the day after, as 9th is a Sunday). The more people who know the service exists, the more likely they will think to use it when needing to book travel (add into that corporate business accounts too)...
Capital did fly to Guernsey towards the end of their existence, some flights being dedicated Guernsey flights with others being on a triangle routing with Jersey. Almost all flights were on the 360's, though one was scheduled as a 146 on a routing combined with Jersey. During Capital's final...
White Heather, Dan Air operated the Guernsey route in the mid 1980's with a HS748. Operated each Saturday and Sunday during the summer of 1986, not sure about frequency other years. I think Air UK then picked up the route in 1987 with F27's.
Hopefully this isn't just going to be a re-spun headline of the additional flights already announced by Thomson for next summer, in the hope of it boosting bookings further. Fingers crossed its something more exciting!
